Although considered as a master politician by his friends and enemies, Zardari in his presidency tenure has failed to create a good perception about himself. Had he done something differently, he might not be in this situation. For example had he nominated Ch. Ahmad Mukhtar as the Prime Minister, had he not taken a stand against restoration of judges which broke coalition with PML N, his inability to curb the establishment, his inability to curb corruption, his inability to give good governance to Pakistan, choosing the wrong people from PPP for important jobs, and the list goes on and on..
What do you think was the biggest mistake of Zardari and why?
For me his biggest mistake was nominating Yousuf Raza Gilani instead of Ahmad Mukhtar as the Prime Minister..
YRG is simply incompetent, and could not deliver on providing good governance..

On a serious note, AAZ big mistake is sidelining good people in PPP.
You are right .He was not happy with BB people.
He trusted his third class friends and biggest mistake was keeping Rahman Malik at top due to his connection with Malik Riaz .

I think AAZ is a pragmatic politician & master tactician on most political issues. Its hard believe that he spent so many years in jail w/o ever being convicted on single count of graft. His biggest shortcoming was/is his perception that he is/was corrupt, but I'd still take him any day over alternatives...NS, IK or the Taliban.
Btw, speaking of mistakes (politically speaking) he should have restored judges ASAP that would have boosted his public image enormously & CJ would not have so much pain in his rear for last 2+years. He should've taken populist stand & ran with it.
