Hmm…I wonder if this is the reason the PPPP (or whatever is left of it), have been ‘colluding’ with the government recently?
Bhutto’s jailed husband may leave
Pakistan has announced it will allow the jailed husband of former premier Benazir Bhutto to travel to Switzerland to defend a court case. A Swiss court has summoned Asif Zardari to face money laundering charges.

With any luck he'll get jailed in Switzerland and the Pakistani taxpayer won't have to keep on paying to feed this guy :)

Saw an interview by PPPP spokesman, Zardari didnt turn down the offer, they said he will talk to his lawyer, party members and then decide. What nawaz did meant more to Musharraf than Zardari, so I wonder why Zardari wasnt allowed to goto Saudi Arabia like Nawaz and live the rest of his life in ayashi? Either way, I heard Zardari has a nice jail in Karachi?

yeah, he has one in every city and keeps moving around at his own discretion whenever he gets tired of one place he starts acting sick and is sent to another location allegedly for 'medical treatemnt' and the govt has no problems obliging, after all it's the poor mans tax money...in karcahi in one leading hospital, that happens to be his favourite, he often arrives for months long leisure trips and has entire floors sealed off in his honour.
such is the greatness and reward for a career in corruption and looting.
if true..it would be the final admission that Zardari was kept in jail only because MUshy and co wanted a deal and not because of any interest in cleaning up Pakistan, but just in preserving his own rule.
Zardari a corrupt SoB for sure, but his detention without trial for 7 plus years is pathetic. Nawaz kept him in without trial for political bargaining but there was no reason for Gen.Musharraf to do the same, was there? Why didn’t Musharraf fast track one of the many Zardari cases and punish him legally. I’ll tell you why - any trial would have exposed the likes of Faisal Saleh Hayyat or any of the PPPPPPPPPPPP lotaz who were in like thieves with Zardari but became clean after going with Musharraf.
This whole “Zardari may be released soon” drama makes a mockery of our judicial system. Musharraf sits in Isloo and decides who goes where and when.
In fact it was the Musharraf government that finally got this grandest of crooks convicted in a corruption case in 2002, which all other governments before him had failed to do. Zardari was sentenced to a 7-year prison term then, and that term expires only in 2009. So Musharraf wasn’t exactly interested in preserving his own rule, by striking a deal with this thief was he? Plus, him going to Switzerland will make it easier for us to get back the looted billions, if he dares goes there and ends up being arrested by the Swiss authorities. Damn clever move by the Musharraf government. :k:
Btw, let’s us not forget who got Zardari thrown into prison in the first place, more than 3 years before Musharraf ever arrived on the executive scene? Well it was none other than the PPP/BB-appointed President Leghari, who then went on record to say this crook along with his wife had siphoned off no less than $1.5 billion dollars from the Pakistan exchequery.
Well, its simple, Musharraf is no better than these crooked politicians, he knows how to play the ‘horse trading game’. Another thing that surprises me is the fact that its been so long since Zardari has been in jail, but hes still in under the ‘murtaza bhutto’ murder charges.
Zardari was sentenced to a 7-year prison term then, and that term expires only in 2009*
Actually retro actively it probably expired several years ago..you start a sentence retroactively in Pakistan from the time of arrest..and usually it comes out to be 5 years with adjustments for good behaviour etc
In fact it was the Musharraf government that finally got this grandest of crooks convicted in a corruption case in 2002
Most of the original information on Zardari (Surrey mansion, Swiss bank accounts) was discovered by Nawaz Sharifs man Ishaq Dar
who then went on record to say this crook along with his wife had siphoned off no less than $1.5 billion dollars from the Pakistan exchequery
I doubt all $1.5 was just for them...the rest can probably be found in Musharrafs friends and supporters bank accounts nowadays.
That reminds me do the rest of you know the present Water and Power Federal ministers history? He had several criminal charges filed against him which included:
1) Having Swiss Bank accounts
2) Illegally Gifting plots to people
Anyway he is ex Army, and his case took less than 6 months to decide (he was obviously acquitted in all cases.. helped by the fact that the Judge deciding was the son of his close friend and because NAB showed little interest in the case)
The reason in the end why Zardari is in jail is simple, Mushy wants to make a deal with him, he's been trying since 2000..the difference between the lotas and Zardari/ Bhutto is the latter want it on their terms and conditions. Push comes to shove this is a power game, the whole accountability process is a farce.
The people in Pakistan have gone full circle from Nawaz Sharif and his corrupt ministers we have Musharraf and his corrupt Ministers.
He's not well he says, the poor fellow. :)
