If it is acceptable then this needs just as must justification as people who say it is not allowed. However, not doing it lends itself to a more Islamic understanding because of the hadith that states if there is doubt in a matter it is better to abstain.
I think it's pretty clear that if something is not allowed and is prohibited, then there must be something in Quran & Sunnah telling us that. I do not believe that we can assume something is prohibited just on the basis that it is holy or is praised. Remember, we are talking about mixing here, not wasting it or throwing it on the floor without a proper use. You said you did not say it was haram but it seemed as if that is what you meant so that is why I asked. My apology for that :)
