YouTube in Pakistan

Hasnt the ban gone on for too long now? I was not in favour of blocking it altogether in the first place. We are the ONLY islamic country left which has blocked YouTube altogether. This is bordering on ridiculous now. Govt is more afraid of religious brigade rather than keeping it blocked on principal.

PTA should have used a new internet facility called Content withheld for countries.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

I think SA has blocked lots of sites and very limited access to internet.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

^ Thats not right. SA has blocked porn and torrent sites mostly. But youtube works beyond fine there. I in fact use a SA proxy to access you tube here :D

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

Aren't a good number of pornography clips you can watch on Youtube? I am surprised if this is allowed in SA. As far I remember one of my friend from SA told me that many sites are blocked.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

it govt or PTA had its way, they would love to deploy a content-filtering firewall at national level (on the same model as in China). a failed attempt has already been made earlier this year

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

PS: a lot of sites (non-porno) are blocked in SA and Iran and i believe in other moslem countries as well

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

Thats one of the qualities of new feature widely used by Google, FB and etc.. Country withheld content. PTA has the means to deploy it. Just dont wanna use it for some odd reason.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

yep. They do some major sites blocking but no one blocks youtube =D

haha. Dont get me started on that incident. Major embarrassment in front of security vendors!

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

RM was saying he would lift the ban on youtube. Kya bana? :bummer:

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

Rehman Malik is a “pathological liar”, according to an eminent leader of his own party.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

Yes its too much now

I need youtube back

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

Good old youtube !!!

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

The very first rule on the Youtube Community Guidelines (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=(http://www.youtube.com/t/community_guidelines)):

YouTube is not for pornography or sexually explicit content. If this describes your video, even if it’s a video of yourself, don’t post it on YouTube. Also, be advised that we work closely with law enforcement and we report child exploitation.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

Pakistan has revived vimeo, FB videos and dailymotion's business. They should pay pak govt royalty for the excess business they are getting.

My youtube channel is very popular in Pak, since the ban my hits are only half of what they used to be :(

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

PM me the link of ur channel dude!

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

What do you post on your YT channel?

The very first rule on the Youtube Community Guidelines (YouTube

Very recently a blasphemous movie clip on Prophet Mohammad was posted on youtube, which triggered huge protests all over the world resulted in killings of 100s of people. Your rant about rules against sexually explicit content is based on lie or ignorance.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

My rant? Where and when did I rant? :konfused:

I just quoted the official YT rules because you seemed to be surprised about Youtube being allowed in Saudi Arabia. You are right in saying that a lot of sites are blocked there. But Youtube is not one of them, because of that rule. I don’t see how me quoting that rule has anything to do with lying or ignorance.

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

That sexually explicit blasphemous clip is still there. Give me one good reason why Pakistan should lift ban on youtube?

Re: YouTube in Pakistan

Because

a) Government has recorded its protest. Google is suffering losses already but they have categoricaly refused even Obama's request to remove the content.
b) Pakistan can easily utilize the withheld content facility

Govt should communicate through media that they have recorded their protests and now will block all such content from YouTube from now and in future.
