Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Moyo is taking things to another level, off the field though. Few questions for Moyo:

  1. Whats the difference btw television and still photos?
  2. Is playing cricket halal? after all, its a total waste of time, no contribution at all to anyone except for the sponsors and cricketers who get rich.
  3. Will Moyo return all sponsors money made from previous commercials?
  4. Will he stop playing cricket for the public?

And for the Pcb bunch of hypocrites, why do they have different rules for different players? Afterall Shaibee was pulled up when he refused to wear sponsor logoes with good reason (he was dropped from the national side).

Yousuf says no to ad campaign

KARACHI, March 13: Pakistan batsman **Mohammad Yousuf has refused to be photographed for a special World Cup campaign launched by a major sponsor of the team and the Pakistan Cricket Board.
**
The cellular company Mobilink is running a big campaign with members of the Pakistan team for the World Cup with Yousuf conspicuous by his absence.

A spokesman for the company which has a contract with the board and players said Yousuf had declined to be photographed.

“We photographed the entire team but Mohammad Yousuf requested not to be photographed for his personal reasons,” Omar Manzoor said.

It is a personal decision of Yousuf and we can’t interfere in someone’s religious beliefs,” said Saleem Altaf, PCB director, cricket operations.—Reuters

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Khel khood including cricket is totally haram in Islam! There is no room for these things!

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Mods:

This thread has the tell tale signs of a religious discussion. I would request either moving it to religion or use your VETO power....
Chabi aur tala.....

and
Mostar95:
You know about as much of Halal and Haram as does primate about personal hygiene.
So don't throw stuff around on what is halal and haram...

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Yaar AA, pls dont use your Mma mentality, whenever u c something u dont like immediately call for harthal, tala, chabi, veto.

This has everything to do with cricket, Moyo is Moyo because of cricket, had it not been for his cricket we wud not even be talking about him. More importantly, he is niether the first or last religous person to take a stand.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

^ doesn’t matter on stand.I care less as I am not MMA. :cb:
It is not CRICKETING NEWS. It is media news with a religious concern…so you can debate the hell out of it in Religion forum.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Wrong!

Khel kood is not haraam.... Dun act like EXTREMIST when you claim to be a mod :)

a khel kood during which you forget Allah, is Haraam..

MoYo always remembers Him, looking up in the sky, chanting supplications while batting, and not to mention prostrating to Almighty when achieving a milestone such as half century or so ...

so there... take your religious bigotry somewhere else.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

It all sums up in one sentence from the original article
"“We photographed the entire team but **Mohammad Yousuf requested not to be photographed* for his personal reasons,” Omar Manzoor said.*

He requested not to be photographed and they respected his request, end of story. I dont even see anything to debate on over this issue.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

^ right on money

When company's spokesmen is saying "its his personal decision and we can not interfere...." If they are not bothered, I am wondering why are you?

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

You guys need to cool down a little. If playing cricket was Haram than MoYo would have stopped it immediately. In fact, cricket is not haram. And the word Haram/Halal are no light words by any means because these are the things either allowed or prohibited by Allah (swt). Halal way of earning your livelihood cannot be termed haram. He is not wasting his time, because I am sure his intention is to earn halal income and the same way we spend 8-10 hours a day working at our jobs, as long as they are Halal and we make the right intention, we are not wasting our time either.

As for the picture or photo-shoot, I guess that his personal opinion because the matter can be discussed and different “Islamic School of Thoughts” have difference of opinion on that matter. But if “Mobilink” accepted his reasoning, than we should all do as well. After all, he is our brother in Islam first and a cricketer second.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Leave the guy alone plz!

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

yeah its his personal matter. If he doesn't wish to, we shouldn't make a fuss abt it.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Kal ko woh bolega...I don't want to be seen on TV during the matches due to personal reasons....Will you agree to that too ?

When he is batting, his body would be blanked out...or the TV will switch to Audio only.

I say this is all BS....to me he is a friggin show-off...that's all.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

There is a thing called discipline that applies to all irrespective of their religious beliefs or actions otherwise.

In an environment of complete and blind obedience to religious circles what is company expected to say, we are disappointed? We all know what will happen to Mobil link offices after that.

What is important here, the worldcup playing for Pakistan or stirring controversies? Moyo timing cud not have been worse.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

I wonder who were you supporting when "logo" saga happened b/w Indian players and ICC (just before last world cup) and Indian players denied following "ambush marketing" term of the world cup contract so that they can earn more money although Indian board SIGNED the contract with ICC on players behalf. Here situation is totally different. Yousuf has DENIED tho participate in marketing campaign and not PLAYING. No one's life/money is getting hurt (ok may be Motorolla's but they are fine with it).

I guess denying something for MONEY is ok then? and denying something for personal religious belief is not?

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Did he ever request not to be shown on TV while batting ? He even appeared on many channels giving interviews last year after he broke the world record. The whole team was asked to appear in a commercial and he simply requested to be excused and the company it self is not raising hell so whats the big deal.

As far as show-off goes the biggest one would be the Indian god Sachin. Comes across as a nice guy, always smiling. Who would have thought he woould be tamerping balls for the Indian bowlers. Ofcourse with the tendency to copy rabbits the country has the biggest population in the cricketing world so Sachin goes unpunished by declaring a test match "un-official" Did he ever come out and apologized about it saying ok I fu**ed up and made a mistake.

A bearded guy makes a small request and it's a big deal. Others can raise hell and not a big deal.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

dont even bring discipline here. You can bring that if Yousuf insists on wearing SHilwar Qameez on field during a match. This is off field thing. He was NOT BOUND by any agreement and above all that other party (sponsor) HAS NO HARD FEELINGS for this.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

Another case of Relegious-show-off-Mafia in action. If he thinks it is against her relegious belief then he shouldnot be playing cricket. That would be an statement of faith. Otherwise it is all phony.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

^ another "extremist" who think that a good follower can either live a normal life or follow Islam and that a person can not be a good player and a person of good faith together.

PS: I can see a tala coming :)

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

we dont know what his personal reason is . so stop debating on something that we absolutely dont know about.

Re: Yousuf says no to ad campaign. But why?

LM, I know it's very hard for Pakitsani folks to understand a pure criticism of religious hypocrisy!!!

I just jumped in this discussion unwillingly becuase you tried to justify through comparison with Sachin's character and should I say you attemted to malign it as well...all this was not really related with topic.
Few Pakistanis who support such religious hypocrisy are fooling no one!

And yes you know nothing about Sachin's character!
