Re: Yousuf pulls out of Champions Trophy, Hafeez likely replacement...
The International players have contracts with their boards, and if they allow them time-off then that's that. It's not for us to complain about it. Your neighbour does not complain when your employer gives you time off now, or even if they do; they have no right to do so.
If I could take the whole month of Ramadan off at my work, I would do that too. In US, we dont have enough vacation days to take off the whole month to begin with. I knew a hotel manager for Radisson in the US, who use to take off for the whole month of Ramadan and never took time off the rest of the year.
I fail to understand that we care so much for our temporary life. And then who are we to judge other people. And why does Muhammad Yousuf need attention as Some1 stir up this debate. Also how on earth you comparing normal office work with playing cricket?
There is a big difference .....do you drink that much water during normal office hours as you see players drinking in the playing field ? I don't think so. Also how about blessing of Allah in the month of Ramadan. How on earth you can pray with Jammat while praying cricket? How about waking up for Sehri, Eftari, Travee Namaz........I think Ramadan is a lot important then cricket.
Some of us just like to criticize thats all...we have nothing better to do...We should look at our own life and see and analyze how many faults we have in our life, rather wasting time on trying to get others right...enough said...Let people live the way they want to live...
don't dictate others and don't assume.
Re: Yousuf pulls out of Champions Trophy, Hafeez likely replacement...
this is truly some shameful crap from sadly very expected quarters.
what business is it of anyone whether or not the motivation of Yousuf is "religious snobbery" or spiritual pursuit? he is not violating his contract, if people can take time off from any other job for any variety of reasons why is religion any less valid?
Here is the problem dude. Most of the people who are defending yoyo here would be making fun of players from other religion if they did the similar things.
And those who are passing comment on Yoyo would be doing same if the players from their relegion did the similar thing.
I hope you get the message.
And you blame Yoyo/praise others for commenting on the basis that those defending him are allegedly meanspirited about other religions? Leave aside the baselessness of the comment, how is this not an example of playground mentality, where your defence is basically along the lines of "he did it first miss"
Frankly speaking if he is really so much Relegious then he should not be fighting court cases to get back into IPL which is flooding with the Wine/Beer money.
He is really busy gathering some brownie points and looking at the post here,it seems liek it does work.
So fighting for his right i.e to play in IPL has become non-religious???? Show me a fatwa which says that. Going by that logic thousands of muslims who live in western countries should not be living there just becasue of so many non islamic things going around them and affecting their daily lives. Don't make Muslims look like some fanatic group of people.
The posts here are not supporting Yousuf in general, but anyone who wants to observe his faith.
People who are not able to digest Yousuf's decision should better go and check the significance of Ramadan for Muslims. I am not saying that it is expected from them to know that but atleast they can be sensitive about certain things.

Just answer this question (I am too bored with this discussion) :
How many "muslims" have played International Cricket till date ? How many of those have asked to be excused during Ramadan.
Md Yousuf is a phoney. He is playing to the vulnerabilities of fans like you...who get all "sentimental" just because somebody grows a "beard" and asks for a "break" during Ramadan.
F&B is right. A truly religious man is above all forms of ego....and will not jump to ICL to seek revenge on PCB (for rightly dropping him from the Twenty20 team)....and then will renege on his contract with ICL....and then later try to somehow get into IPL for the $$$$$$.

Phoney I say.
you will never be able to understand the significance of Ramadan and how different muslims observe the month in their own different ways.
Hate to say that but may be its just that you are trying to take cheap shots at the guy, thats why you are not able to understand why several people who know more about ramadan are trying to make you understand that how this month is observed in Pakistan or may be you just dont want to understand. In any case I am done with discussing you on this topic.
Re: Yousuf pulls out of Champions Trophy, Hafeez likely replacement...
Final Thoughts ( laJerry Springer) :
I do not know Mohd Yousuf personally. May be he really is the pious man he projects himself as.
But from what I know from experience, people who are honest at something seldom have to make a public spectacle of it. Yousuf saheb through his antics (like appearing in Cricket Press Conferences in Maulvi dress and asking for a break during Ramadan when no other Muslim player has done the same) seems to be craving for attention.

When I was giving example of people who are defending his freedom of practice his relegion will be the first who laugh when people from other relegion do the same, first person I was thinking about was you.
Look all I am saying is that we dont have to wear our relgion on our sleeves. Its private matter and leave it at that. This is recent phenomenan of South Asian Muslim thank to Wahabi(Jamat) movement that people have started doing this.
In PAK cricket List is too long..
Brinigng Allah to every win and loss. Phenomenon of 90s. Are you saying old pakistani players were less Muslim
Aplogising to all muslim for Twenty20 loss.
This Yoyo episode.
This about Dhoni saying... " jay Shriram, we lost but boys played good'..
Sachin Tendulkar "displays" the indian flag on the top of his helmet (for whatever reasons) Does that give me a right to assume that he is trying to show off that he is more patriotic than all the other indian cricketers who don't display the national flag on their helmet.
NO! why? because I don't know what is going through his mind, and may be it is "HIS WAY" of showing patriotism, which doesn't mean that he thinks he is better indian than other players.
Let us grow up and stop assuming without proofs. People like to do what they want and "are comfortable with" unless they are not harming others. Mohammad Azharauddin at times liked to attend the press conferrance with his feet on the table

Lesson over. Class dismissed.
You are wrong in both assuming that he is showing off and not understanding the significance of Ramdan for Muslims.
To understand his dress code, you need to know about the group Tableeg e Jamaat. You dont know the members of the group. They all dress in Shalwar Kamiz, whenever they can as long as they are not required to wear another form of outfit. It's something they believe in strongly, and all members of this group have this dress code. In my college in Dubai, guys from tableeg e jamaat group used to come to college in Shalwar Kamiz with Imama (turban) on their heads. Its not that they are more pious, its the dress code they believe in. Just like the Amish people or the Orthodox Jews. They all believe in a dress code, it doesnt mean they are better people than others in the same faith.
I hope you understand, and are not arguing for the sake of arguement.
Lesson over. Class dismissed.
This sounds like such a arrogant statement and you are pointing fingers at Mohammad Yousuf, accusing him on the same. Check your ego first buddy!
