let me share mine.. once i was cooking Curry and there i missed adding basen… :cb: when after an hour i saw.. its not yet thick.. I realised .. OH… BESAN TO DAALA HEE NAHEEEEEN… :smack:

yeah, it was the silliest one, and it could turn the whole dish so awful if i would have not noticed my mistake!! :sid:

I with much enthusaism one day decided to make saalan. It was aloo gosht or something like that. It happened before the wedding. I wanted to know how to at least make it even thought I didn’t like desi food. I hated taking instructions from others so being the smarta$$ I thought I was, I thought I could follow the recipe printed on the Shaan masala box. Well turns out I CAN’T follow directions.

At the time I and hubby were just dating. I told him I could cook and I would bring him the best desi saalan he has ever had. I told him not to eat the whole day. I asked him to wait for me to bring my dish over. My mum knew what I was upto and she offered to help but I wanted it to be mine, all MINE!

So i got the ingredients and well put everything in the wok. I still don’t know what I did but my saalan never turned the dark brown/red color. It stayed white. I took it to my hubby anyway. He took one look at it :emmy: and then he went:

“ok, hmm, this doesn’t look ..you know..i mean it must be good..but it looks a little different”

Me: :emmy: It looks fine..when my mom cooks that’s exactly what it looks like. It’s our way of cooking, you know.. try it.

me and hubby take a bite and we look at each other

Me: Yeah let’s go get something else..
HUbby: Yup…

The other day I had this bright idea to steam some broccoli. So I filled a saucepan with an inch of water, put a colander over it, broccoli in colander, and lid over the broccoli. Ten minutes later I smell something weird and come into the kitchen to find my plastic colander all melted! D'OH, total stupid moment of me to not even consider that!! hahahah

I once put all the ingredients for murgh Cholay in a pateelee and put it in the fridge instead of chohla. :smack:

Another one....

last week, i bought a chicken and put it in the to cook. we did the math and the chicken had to bake in foil for 1 hour, then take foil off for last 20-25 mins.

so i put the chicken in at 4pm, and went back at 5pm to remove foil. to my absolute horror!!!! i forgot to switch the cooker on!!! i stood there and shouted "I dont believe this!!!"

i was once cutting up chicken…i put the scrape on one side and meat on the other side. then…lol…i threw the meat in the garbage and saved the scrapes. LOL!!! i had to go to the store to get another one. :cb:

yup worse mistake ever … I put channas in the pressure cooker and forgot to add water .. phuta nai pressure cooker , buch gayi coz i realized it within 20 minutes ki hua kia hai !

another one … I added namak in a dish not once , not twice but four times !!! I was cooking for a dawat… so many dishes were being done at the same time ..
first added namak and forgot i had added in some … it was ramadan didnt check .. added second time … then went for namaz , came back and thought i hadnt added namak in this one , so added it once again … later i was taking a bath … asked husband to add salt in a particular dish .. he added salt again in the same pot :smack:

OMG! That’s hilarious! Reminds me of my bachpan. O lord I don’t know how my parents put up with me. I wouldn’t shut up! When someone would tell me to get some water while I am still talking I would go to the kitchen rinse a glass put it back in its spot and come back to finish my story. The water would never make it back with me. :hehe: I have done this a million times!

Once I was making kebabs with my mum for Eid. It was a new receipe and my mum asked me to go an get the cornflour. Next day when we were serving the kebabs, we realised I'd brought her icing sugar instead of cornflour.

Everyone still ate the sweet kebabs though.
