Do desi people in west usually does the 3 month salary thing when buying engagement rings?

Not in my case. When we got engaged, we were both poor college students. My husband couldn’t even afford a diamond ring. On my mangni the ring he put on my finger was a cz set in 14K. By our first anniversary he replaced the cz with a diamond and by our 5th he had the diamond set into another new ring with new bands, all flawless.colorless diamonds and all paid in cash.

Yea that’s what I was thinking.there is no point in taking out loan for a ring when you are newly graduated. Hope future mrs. Pisiform understands that
