Hi. What have you guys given to your mum on her birthday?
I’m wondering what to give. It’s been a long year for all of us. If I give her money/card I know she won’t spend it on herself, if I give a gift she’ll say I should have given her money cause she already has a 100 of those.
Give her a baby. She probably doesn't have a grandkid already, and she can't return that either. Hopefully...
jk.
One year I got my mom a pretty frame with a picture of us in it, along with a couple of high end decor stuff which I knew she'd like. If your mom likes kitchsy stuff you can't go wrong with that. Purses and perfume sets work pretty well too. Plus you can always peek on to her dressing table to make sure she doesn't have that perfume already.
My bro and I pitched in money to buy her a gold Allah necklace. She loves it and was thinking of buying her one herself.
Get her something she wants or better yet take her along. Otherwise gold jewelry (if it's easily affordable), suits (my mom loves desi clothes), perfume, makeup, handbag, clutch is a safe option. But buy them only if she already doesn't have a hoard of them.

All of these are good options. You can also do 'experience' gifts such as treating her to her favorite restaurant and then maybe to a movie afterward (if she enjoys going to the theatre), a day of pampering at a spa, or it could be an outing to a place she likes or wants to visit. You could do more than one experience gift for her birthday.

Just looking for ideas. Thanks.
Hmm.lets see. Let me tell how I think. I would rather choose the things which can comfort her. Now that can be expensive too. Once i gave my mom a portable AC, once leg massager, once back massager etc. I'm sure you must know her very well so find out if she would like any services?! For example you can always give her a nice beauty & spa package. A nice gym membership if she is into that. Any household essentials that she may like, any bed & bath stuff etc.
And if these things dont matter to her then think outside the box but make sure you make her happy :)
Gold works best.... And seriously usable stuff..like above...and I don't think mums like consumables.... I guess with something fixed(like jewellery and sids stuff) one article of clothing is kinda customary and If she is into books...then I guess some series she likes...spas I don't know are mom things...dont do that...plants of her fav flowers something like that...
And I guess time is the best of all...cooking and letting her rest is one thing....
I usually give her a watch or a top along with flowers and chocolate. Depends on how much money you wanna spend. I spend no more than 150 bucks but then again I am unemployed. I am technically buying her gift from her own money. She doesn't mind.
I like all the ideas above. For my mom's bday, aside from gifts, we're planning to fly her off to her family so she can meet them and spend time with them. Maybe a getaway? An umrah package?
Thanks for the replies, still 6 days till her BD. I'm thinking a ted baker/MK handbag, purse and card + money? I told her the other day we'll go out to eat, she said "what for? i'm old, forget my birthday and just give me the money instead" Lol.
