No disrespect to my brothers from pakhtoonkhwah, but you don’t own the last name Khan. The name has Chinese connection from Genghis Khan and a wrong pronunciation of the name Chen. So if you meet a person from Karachi with last name Khan, there is no need to smirk and sarcastically ask - “aap kahan se khan ho gaye”. My desired answer would be pretty rude, but I just smile and say, “my apologies, I will be careful next time”
So for the folks with the last name Khan, and you are not from pakhtoonkhwah, have you ever faced such situation?
Shahrukh Khan’s father was an ethnic Pathan, from Peshawar. He moved to Delhi in 1947, after partition. His mother was Hyderabadi.
Not sure about the other “khan” actors, but I know Aamir Khan’s surname is actually “Hussain”…His father Tahir Hussain and his uncle Nasir Hussain…I think the Khan moniker was added with his generation.

His uncle was also an actor whose name was Tariq Khan
