It was understanding between my mom and her, they would would marry their children. But unfortunately thing could not move forward due to some impolite comment of her grand mother.
Although i do not have any special liking for her, but still feel sorry for this whole affair as she ended up marrying another nice fellow but become widow few years later. Never marries again.
And that's the other thing - you guys are all saying how fast your families rejected rishtas that came to you in your early teens...You'd think people would learn that girls' families are not into this sort of thing and would cut it out.
They must have gotten the hint in our case.... my younger sister never got any creepy rishtay.
Seems like I have hit a nerve or something lolz :)
Please enlighten me where have I used the word child marriages ? Don't be such an imbecile and make things up yourself. I am not talking about 14, but maybe 18+. Islam allows it so you can keep your wannabe angrez opinions to yourself.
No matter whatever spin you want to put on it, I don't think going around the block a couple of times and "tasting" stuff untill you are into late 30's to get married is the way to go.
"Going around the block"? "Tasting" stuff?!? Are you discussing rishtas or NYC street vendors?
