My first "computer" was a Commodore 64 which I got in 1989 as far as I remember. It had an external floppy drive and a datasette. I taught myself programming on that thing (in BASIC language).
My first PC was an Intel 386 with 40 MB hard drive and 1 MB (!!!!) RAM. It had two floppy drives, one for 3 1/2" disks and one for 5 1/4" disks. I got that one in 1993.
WOW...I can't remember anything about it...except it was white colour..I had it in 1998-2000...I didn't have to share with anyone..coz am the only child :p
I think it was a 286 with DOS 6.21 and windows 3.11. It was most likely 1995-96. Thats when I learned how to program in FoxPro 2.5 for DOS and feel in love with Programming. Was going to be an Electrical Engineer but went for a BCS instead....ahhh the memories....
We still have ours from the 80s. It's sitting safely, covered and all, in my room in our home back in India. We bought it from England and I remember my parents paying a hefty sum for it. Should ask my parents to send me a picture. I remember when it booted up, it would stop at 64K. I don't remember much in terms of which company etc.
We got ours when I was very very young, I think around 1989-90, there was no windows at the time, only DOS, we had a big horizontal type CPU, those B-floppy disk drives (I'm sure hardly anyone knows what they are anymore).... and yes, only 3 colours in the monitor, CGA graphics. It was supposedly the high-end model for the time... and the whole family took turns sharing it.
Back then I didn't know about computers to worry about specs but it was in 2001 (I even know the exact date as it was my sisters birthday - not that it was a birthday present). It was a desktop that all three of us siblings shared. Best part was it was in mine and my sisters room. :D
The first we owned or the first we exclusively used?
The first I used and basically inherited after my old brother came to the states was a pentium 3 desktop. It had that 3.5 inch floppy drive if anyone remembers those. I bet that no one remembers zip disks :D
The first I owned was an HP pavillion dv6707. Nothing too glamorous with an AMD dual core 64 bit processor with 2 gb ram and 120 gb HDD.
It was a pentium ll that we (all sibling) bought from our saved pocket money in 2004 . It had 128 mb ram win 98 sega games and few gb hard space
. My big brother use to hav passwd on it so whenever he came home windows were crashed because i kept guessing the password for hours.
