What is your favorite laptop brand and why?
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
toshiba. are slimmer. hold more disk space. have very light weight. longer battery life.
most models are standard with folding feature as a book.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
I am stuck with ACER ![]()
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
hp pavillion
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
toshiba for professional use
dell for surfing the net..and other personal stuff
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
I pretty much only use Apple. I like the OS, and they're slim and well built...plus about 90% of viruses only affect windows based systems.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
Dell is considered to be more reliable and vastly used across most big corporates. It's very rugged and generally doesn't break down easily. Price is very economical these days. I have been using Dell for the the past 10 years but upgraded to later models after 3 years or so.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
I love Dell
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
HP
There is some thing wrong with my Dell's touch pad :(
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
I used Toshiba, Sony and Dell. Currently I am using my own Dell D630 for work and Customer’s provided Mac Book (not Air) at their site, and I must say, Dell is a very good business machine. Reliable and tough. But usablity, style and OS wise there is no comparision to MAC. They are super fantastic machines. The hardware and software are all out of this world. If you know all the shortcuts in OSX and its utlities, then sky is the limit. Combining MAC and Unix together is like power of zsh, vi editor, best mail client on Earth with freakingly easy system management, mezmerizing graphics, all incorporated into jelly-made little universe of its own. Be it managing other MACs remotely or ssh into 10 Unix servers at a time, the workflow and hopping is enormous. Saves thousands of clicks and keystrokes in an hour.
I am holding up on buying a new machine, since I recently built a new server for home. But in 2009 my eyes are on MAC Book Pro. There is no machine like that.
I will go with max horsepower this can be configured with, and with 3 year warrenty so I can enjoy it for a longer time, until Apple upgrades its Mac Air with all the conventional and latest stuff to make it more practical then what it is now.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
Apple for sure, slim and reliable :k:
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
In Intel based laptops. I'd prefer to buy Toshiba as my next laptop. But again I dont care about the brand I care more what is inside & what is it offering me any reliable brand is fine, Toshiba, Dell, HP (Compaq), IBM, Sony etc etc.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
IBM Lenovo T/X Series without a doubt. Nothing else comes close in terms of reliability, build quality, and usability. Other than Lenovo only Apple use ALPS keyboards. Anything else feels like cheap **** to be frank.
I would also be very tempted by Apple's offerings.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
Hp pavillion
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
I have a Dell from work (D420) and HP Pavillion (tx1000us) at home. Dell wins hands down in reliability and build quality.
Of course, I am not comparing price, features etc, because you should do apples and apples comparison and more or less you get bang for the buck from any mainstream vendor.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
However, those friends of mine who have IBM laptops, rave about them.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
Faisal, I'd rave about my IBM (Lenovo) also but good luck getting the thing serviced. Ever since Lenovo relocated their tech support to NA monkey cages i've had nothing but headaches.
Dells might be bloated, ugly and expensive... but all that doesnt matter when all you want is a laptop that works and a company that'll get it fixed immediately if it ever happens to go kaput. So far Dell tech has been nothing but fantastic.
When I went to HK/JP I was surprised by the number of Fujitsus I saw. We dont see many here but it seem Fujitsu is all the rave in the pacific. The things are ultraportable, sturdy and well priced.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
I just got a Dell XPS 1530, it's great! Does everything from word processing to graphics editing to extreme gaming! Light, powerful and strong.
Re: Your favorite laptop brand
It has be to IBM ThinkPad or Toshiba. Dell and HP are a big miserable failure in the Middle East Corporate Market.
