My favorite is Mirza from Mushtaq Ahmed Yousufi's books.

Suddenly I realize it is either that I don't know much of Urdu literature, or that Urdu literature does not have enough depth to include famous characters.
Most of the names that come to my mind originated from Arabic or Persian literature. Ali Baba, Amr Ayyar, Rustum o Sohrab, Sindbad Jahazi, Alauddin.

very valid observation. The popular Urdu characters mostly come from adventure series like Imran series and those written by Ishtiyaq Ahmed.
