Pardon my ignorance but Biddat means innovation.. right? How come talaaq is baddat? Is it also an innovation in religion?

^no...talaaq is not biddat.........the biddat is in the process of giving talaq........as per quran.....the method of giving talaq is that there are to be 3 distinct time separated events of talaq.....
the first talaq=iddat period...can reconcile
second thalq=iddat period...can reconcile
thired talaq = iddat period...the end can't reconcile...
the biddat part is that.......saying the word talaq three times at once causes it to be 3 talaqs....

.. and i say that according to some .. baddat means innovation i.e. inventing or bringing into Islam something which wasnt in the time of the Prophet SAW .. so i say ... the ppl who say this are a biddat themselves as they definatly wernt around in the time of the Prophet SAW ..
plus .. biddat is of two types .. only the ignorant of the two meanings know of only one type.

there is ample proof this is not biddah
one of them is that the quran allows for immediate divorce (in your prefered language - chuck out) in matters of indecency
this is what i remember from the last time i looked at the issue

I am surprised that even in this thread, no one is stepping up to provide a definition of biddat but people are ready to dissect the only definition that i provided.
My question is that if you dont even know the definition of biddat, how can you recognized what is biddat and what is not, so saying that something is not biddat without knowing what is biddat is a waste of opinion.

But i guess u were looking for defination of Bidah thats rejected in Islam.
