Your Favirote Sportsman

Its a global sport indeed. Infact its the 3rd most popular sport in the world right now. I once came to west virginia university and even though there are very few pakistanis or indians here, I saw that they had such a good cricket team and they were competing with other state teams regularly and had tournaments. If its being played in places like west virginia, its gotta be everywhere indeed.

TusaaN kooN maaN WatanaaN da, AsaaN haaN yaar Pardesi.

Cricket is no where close to being a global sport, forget about the 10 nations that play cricket, some of those nations, cricket is not in even the top 3 most popular sport.

Australia, who is without a doubt the best test playing country in the world but cricket is not even amongst the top 3 favirote sport in that country.
It comes after rugby, football/soccer, tennis.

England, where the game was invented cricket is probably after football, rugby, tennis, f1.

South Africa, they are a rugby fanatoc country followed by football, same goes for Newzeland.

Westindies, who are getting americanzied, number 1 sport in that country is basketball, and baseball is also getting preety famous.

So the only countires that value cricket more than any other sports is Pakistan, India, and Srilanka.

Even our Bangali brothers are football fanatics.

When Argentina lost the world cup to West Germany, there were about dozen people reported committing suicide just because they were favoring Argentina to win.

So you see cricket is still about 100 years behind football, and rugby is also preety famous.

And the influence of american sports, especially basketball is spreading widely throughout eastern europe and eastern asia as well, just look at how many foregin players were drafted this year in the NBA.

I read an article couple days back on cricinfo about Ehsan Mani, the Vice president of ICC saying that if cricket is widely spread in US than the whole world will be playing cricket in no time.
