You can’t beat SENNA in this sport. He had more skillz than a more over lucky Schuhmacher.

Who won the last 3 races with amazing luck. Not the first time though.

So Ali, your'e saying that him winning 55+ races have all been luck.
Good luck to you!

I've noticed one thing about you, you seem to hold a grudge against the Germans.
Are you Jewish?

If you are than there is nothing wrong with a Pakistani jew, its rare and interesting.

it’s a REAL pity that Senna died in 1994. If that accident didn’t occur, it would have been a very interesting decade in formula 1, with Senna vs Schumacher

Really good contest!

Schumacher is simply the best, its sad that I haven't watched a F1 race in 3 years but no driver can get what Schumi has accomplished.

I guess once my ancestors where jewish. Long a ago though.

This person is a good driver no doubt, before making any assumptions on my post you should read carefully. I stated that more over a lucky person. He has won many GPs because of his talent not of his luck, but then since a Montoya has come into spot light he has had more luck than anything else. If Montoya would have won those races he would have been much harder to beat by Schuhmacher.

He himself stated once that his is one of the most luckiest guyz in sports.

I don't care about your love to Germans or Germany. Have I criticized you why you support them or him?

Gandalf !! Just because you dont have a favourite player, doesn’t mean you should criticize others choice also.

About why I chose Leander :-

Leander, despite his limitations has beaten many top tennis players in the world in Davis Cup. He has won an OLYMPIC MEDAL in 1996, Many players dream of it. He has won many Grandslam Doubles titles. Whenever it comes to representing India in DAVIS CUP, He is always there. It’s not just the talent, its his passion and pride while representing his country and his fighting spirit while playing Top players in the Tour.

If you read the starting post of this thread - Umair says - It doesn’t have to be the best sportsman.

About why I didn’t choose Sachin or Gavaskar or Kapil - coz Cricket is not a Global sport and hardly anyone follows the game outside the 10 test playing nations.

Yeah dude, I was kidding - Cricket is played everywhere in the world and most of the countries in the World play it. Unfortunately my maths is little week so meri counting 10 ke aage nahin jaati hai. Can you help me in counting all the test playing nations ?

AK

Well lets see, I’ve been to Australia, Hong Kong, China, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Middle East, England, United States, Canada, Pakistan

Total = 12 + most of the middle east

I have seen and played cricket in those countries except Middle East(did not get to play cricket there). Now lets see out of those how many are the one that are considered to be in 10 cricket playing nations?

PAK, AUS, ENG = 3

I wonder why ICC keep adding other countries into the cricket playing nations catagory such as kenya, bangladesh etc? And there are more on the way to be announced such as Ireland, Denmark, Canada, and few more I don’t remember their names.

Maybe ICC is being bribed by all these new countries to be added into the cricket playing nations

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/wink.gif

You sure can’t count more than 10

Good point.
I went to many countries in Europe and South East Asia and I live in USA.
In all these places I saw some DESI playing KAbADDI in a corner.
Does that mean Kabaddi is a famous sport...

Dear dont take his word litarely...
what he meant was that Cricket isnt a global sport as yet and is not a passion in more than 10 countries.I would say Its passion in only 6-7 countries forget about 10.

[This message has been edited by Question (edited July 11, 2002).]

First Test was played in 1876 between Aus and Eng, since then only 8 more countries have been given TEST status (that too because English ruled most of those countries and brought cricket with them). In last 50 years only two may be 3 countries have been given test status and 4 or 5 ODI status. In Eng,NZ,Zim,WI cricket boards are worried because of low ticket sales. Talented cricket players like Murray Godwin and Nel Jhonshon quit Zimbabwe national cricket team because they were getting more money in some local club than their national teams.

In Sharjah, If Pakistan and India stop playing, no one will watch cricket there. In Kenyan and WI team most of the players are of south Asian origin, England's captain is of South Asian origin.

A sport which not even two countries from each continent play. If I mention the name of Sachin Tendulkar/Wasim Akram/Steve Waugh/Lara to an avg american/Canadian/Singaporian/Malaysian/egyptian/german and other 150 nationals - they will ask if it is some form of Indian Curry or the INSECT or the new mobile phone.

But since you are saying and you have travelled so many places - you must be right. CRICKET MUST BE A GLOBAL SPORT. But that's what you feel, I dont think so and you can't convince me despite taking refuge in personal attacks.

Still LEANDER PAES is my fav. Indian sportsman and CARL LEWIS my Fav. sportsperson.

Btw, here is an intresting article from Shashi Tharoor :-

NOT YET A GLOBAL PHENOMENON

AK

Cricket is a global sport BUT Asif is right, that unfortunatly the heart is not in the game in other countries.

People could be playing the game anywhere, but there is a difference in playing the game than having individuals watching the game enthusiasticly.

Besides I bet majority of the people you see in other countries playing are from South Asia

I have to agree with Nescio, Michael Schumacher is really untouchable in his sport. His records shall take centuries to be broken.
