I really need the advice of MAC fans out there. I am a huge of make up - i love to try new looks and experiment. I finally got a job after graduation and am ready to splurge on myself after four years of living on a college students budget! I have always loved the quality of MAC products but I have never bought their eyeshadows or foundation. I have used their studio fix for years and thats about it.
What do you guys recommend as far as their brushes, foundations, eyeliner, lipgloss, and eyeshadows are concerned? Their brushes are so pricey - are they really worth it? What about their foundation? I know their eyeshadows are great, but because I wear make up daily and need some great stuff for evening wear I want to invest in their other products as well. Share your opinions, frustrations, or recommendations about this brand - or others you may like.
Eyeshadows definitely. I would say buy the brushes too. You have to buy brushes anyway right for makeup so why not just buy MAC's since you like that brand... Now is an excellent time to buy makeup of any kind. They have the best deals for christmas. Sometimes you even get freebies for spending so much. They have gifts packs. I wanted to try their pigment and I waited till christmas last year. I got 5 little bottles for like 25 dollars. I still have it all. All .. lol.. so goooooooooooo shopping!
for some reason mac's eyeshadows never impresses me, maybe because my closest outlet doesn't carry the entire collection, but what ever the reason i just never end up getting any, sometimes i even went there with an intension that i will buy few shadows since everyone else loves it, but when i looked at the shades or swipe my finger in the color it just never looks as good.
MAC's foundation has broken my out horribly, and i am not even acne prone, so i am never touching that stuff again.
i really like the lipgloss and lipsticks and brushes are just amazing.
i have also bought the fuideline and it was great while it lasted but it dried out wayyyyy to soon and for that reason i just don't think it worth the money.
their makeup removing wipes are i think exceptionally good, i haven't bought them yet becuase i have used it and loved them.
i didn't like their concealer, first nothing would match my skin, second it sinked in the fine lines under my eyes and looked gross.
i have used the paintpots and just LOVED them.
Ive bought some eyeshadows, lipsticks and lipglosses from MAC and Ive loved them all!
I have to agree with Spiral is to buy make up at christmas bcoz there are best deals and MAC usually have there limited edition stuff out too!and they do great little pieces like I bought a really nice blue glitter liquid eyeliner from them and I always get complimented when I wear it and that was only available that christmas when I bought it, havent seen it since!
But I love the eyeshadows there are so much vareity i find it difficult to chose 1 and often go home with 2!
the best investment with MAC are their brushes. Get a basic variety- one for blush, one for foundation, one for powder. When it comes to eyeshadow, you'll need an angled brush, a regular shading brush, a blending brush, and #219, which is used to put colors in the corners of your eyes. Also get a lip brush.
I bought MAC studio tech foundation yesterday from EBCO at the Forum, Karachi.. It was so expensive but my mom said I shouldn’t compromise on base Anyway, has anyone used it? what was your experience? Also got Bronze eyeshadow..
Plus, I’m thinking of asking a friend to bring me MAC prep + prime powder:
also. I am of the opinion that ur finishing translucent powder doesnt need to be that expensive cause its ultimately see through and just sets the better stuff. Go for max factor (puke)
I would definitely recommend the following products:
-Their SPF 50 face primer
-Fix plus spray
-Eye shadows
-strobe creme
-Dazzleglass lip glosses
Makeup Brushes (in my opinion no one can beat Mac when it comes to brushes, an compared to other high end makeup brands such as Nars, Bobbi brown an Chanel. Mac r alot cheaper)
A good makeup brush should be soft but firm. and not loose bristles when you wash it. natural bristles are best for powder stuff and synthetics for creams
You can also try the brushes from sigmamakeup.com. They are supposed to be really good and comparable to MAC. People on Youtube are always talking about them. I plan on getting the complete set + the brush roll soon
Sorry for the inconvenience guys but I have to close this thread. There are numerous other threads regarding MAC makeup. I advice you to type in MAC cosmetics in the search box at the top to view the threads.
