Your earliest memory of cricket !!!!

In some of thethread I saw some people talking about when they started listining/watching cricket first. This reminded me of my own experience..

It was Hyderabad test of 1982-3 tour f India to Pak . Dhulai of Indian bowler by Javed and Mudassar was unbearable. Both scored double centuries and my aunt who lived half of her life In bangldesh and then returned to India after 71 WAR was so happy. She is still a pakistani. We listened to commentry on All India Radio and I was pissed that Indian bowlers were being whacked.

Then next is India’s triumph in Worldcup 1983 .That again courtsy All India Radio. We used to be awake almost till midnight . And then came wounded West Indies on a tour to India and we were beaten badly. But Gavaskre scored 236 in madras I think. That was only happy thing of that tour apart from kapils 9 wicket in an inning in Ahmedabad.

Anyway.. What is your earliest memory of international cricket.

Ehsan bhai ,Please keep away from this thread.Dont wana hear story of Kardars & Frank Worrel . :p:

my earliest memory of cricket is the semi-final of '96 WC, but i dont remember it properly, coz i was too young :)

miandad's chakka and seeing my dad going crazy in the lounge :D

World Cup 1992 :bhangra:

World Cup '92, i started watching every match after that :nuch:

92' WC(was only 7 then,but do remember,waseem akrams 2 wickets in the final)..Especially Final/Semi Final.....
+ 91'Sharjah Cup i guess (Aaqib Javed ended up picking 7)....

1978 Indian Tour of Pakistan and Zaheer Abbas’s century where he was wearing a red headband… Bishen Singh Bedi went for some hitting. I was 5 years old… My dad was a big fan of cricket and would take days off from work every time there was a match on TV. Back in those days, there wasn’t much live coverage. That experience of watching cricket on TV with my father (who has now passed away) is etched in my mind forever. I treasure it a lot. :teary3:

1971, Zaheer Abbas scoring 274 at edgbaston. Since than thousands of other memories but that one is very special.

Zaheer Abbas finishing the match against India (?) late 70s. Then I was out of loop for 7-8 years, started to watch again after 1988.

I think Kiran More missed a stumping opportunity there. Notice the batsman is out of his ground.

Nice to hear your story Funguy. I can also remember that moment. That six and Javed running towards Pavilion like a maniac.
Ehsan bhai, Hum...your earliest memory only goes back to 1971. Comeon...dont hide yout age. By the way that inning of Zaheer was gem.

That famous last-ball-six final. My brother and his friend were watchign and i was sitting in front of tv. Didnt know much about cricket then but the excitement got to me and I soon was jumpign around at every boundary scored. It was a memorable experience.

my earliest memory would be 1980-81 west indian tour of pakistan.. one moment that stands out in my mind is when Imran Khan scored his first test century in that series.. i remember my khala was visiting pakistan from india and she told me imran khan would score a century even before the game started.. she later told me she had no idea he would but she said that to make me happy.. lol.. imran khan then became my fav player for the rest of his career...

Yaar make up your mind. You didnt wanted me to post anything from the 60’s era. :snooty:

So you lied about Zaheer Abba’s Inning being your earliest memory.

There is good 809 yrs gap between these 2 incidents.
We are talking about your earliest memory. Not the best memory.

Haha, It was one of the earliest one. But I do remember two earlier ones, the first one was a century by my than favourite player Mushtaq Muhammad, I was listening to the commentary on radio as there was no such thing as live TV transmission in those days. It was in the mid 60's. Also from the same era was a mtach betwen India and West Indies being played somewhere in India and Sobers was playing a gem of an inning. At one stage he hit 3 sixes, I cannot remember whether it was consecutive sixes or not, but that led to the match being disrupted by crowd disturbance. It sticks in mind because it was the first time I had heard of a match being disrupted by crowd trouble. I still remember that match everytime a match is disrupted due to crowd trouble.
