A month seems to be a long time for one city. By the time we get to Murgha faqeer-zai, it will be year 2045. How about shortening it to a week? Posters can always add to it even after a week, but at least we can introduce a new city every week to keep it fresh. A month seems too long.
You've got a point but isn't a week tooo little time? how abt fortnight (14 days)?
Yes I agree a month is too long, but a week is too short I agree with Irem about the 14 days idea, or how about do two cities per month
Akif, Irem and mahnoor, thanks for the suggestions. We actually started this to see how guppiees would lik it? I think it will be good topic as we go by more cities.

The topic as u have it now seems good, like 'city of the month: X'
the method u're following abt having it as a stickie per month and then taking it off sticky status after the month seems good too. we can do two stickies for the current two cities if we follow the 14 day rule, so one city will be in stickie status for 1 month...
i think we could have a pakistan map, a really detailed one with all small towns n cities labelled, and pick one randomly from a different province each time...
btw what r u planning to do abt the very small unknown cities, like for example some very remote town in nwfp, no one's going to really know much abt them...r u going to combine several small cities or do the whole zilla at once?
One suggestion is that topic should be "PAKISTANI CITY - LAHORE" and we start next city thread in 2 weeks. This way we are not mentioning the time frame in the topic.
Normally, a new city thread interests members for 2-3 days at best. Thats why I suggested a week would be fair. But if it seems too short, then 2 weeks is good too.
Regarding the content of these threads, Id more like to see members personal experiences and thoughts and narrations about a city, rather than articles copied from PTDC. Personal travelogues, experiences, adventures are far more interesting than reading stuff that we can just as easily search on google. In order to facilitate that, is it possible to make sure the city thats being mentioned does have a few members who have something personal to share about it?
Suggestions for topic. Though the current topic sounds good enough to me, we could go with something like, "Next Stop - Bhambor".
If you decide to do 2 cities a month, then I feel only the current and the previous city's thread should remain open. Previous ones should be closed for discussion.
Cities can be be selected from each province alternately. And each province can be done alphabetically.
I agree with Akif, its a good way of making the thread interesting and especially if some personal experiences are shared that will make it even better...can pics be posted here?? or can they be only posted in the image gallery ????

Irem has a good point about the smaller cities, so maybe they can be grouped, or if enough information can be posted then it will be great to get to know each city on its own.
If the cities can be announced in advance then that could give people a chance and time to gather some good information to share with everyone.

For the topic "Pakistani City Of The Month", we would like to make a list of Pakistani Cities. How about telling us the city you are from or would like to discuss under that topic.

So far, we've already discussed Karachi, Multan and Lahore. These threads are still open for further discussion, if required.
Other suggestions were to reduce the duration of the topic to bi-weekly, instead of a month. We would start new "City" every 1st and 15th of the month.

Well fortnightly suggestion is good. Lahore is already done otherwise I could say put Lahore as my city.

my city Faislabad , the manchester of Pakistn , the third largest city of Pakistan , the taxtile back bone of this country but still doesnt get the importance that it deserves, islamabad, karachi nd lahore steal the lime light but i think this city has tremendous potential to be the next "roshnion ka sher"(i know i m exaggerating but still it has long way to go)..nd dont forget its the second highest revenue generator after karachi..
thus, Faisalabad should be the next "City of Monty "
