Another hair removal tip:
If you find epilating or waxing too painful then use Freeze spray on the area first to numb the skin and it won't hurt so much. Freeze spray is the cold version of Deep Heat and its for sports injuries and sprains etc.
its better to put powder on the place you're about to wax

you can probably get that at the drug store right??
btw is epilating any good?
Hinna, you can get it any any drugstore and its so cheap. Not sure what anyone else thinks but I found epilating very painful.....at least with waxing the pain is over in short bursts, with epilating it just drags on and on.

Epilating is basically the same thing as waxing right?....pulling the hair from the root?
I guess the results are the same, but an epilating machine will pull out each hair one by one whereas with waxing all the hair is yanked out in one go if you know what I mean.
I think I'll have to stop contributing to this thread before people start thinking I'm some kind of hairy monkey-girl.

So what does he use?? Shaving Creme or Hair Removing Creme?? :p
have u girls tried laser treatment? id really like to get some info on it… im kinda nervous even thinking about wat kinda side effects it might have. ![]()
but i think u can epilate tiny hairs also, whereas for waxing u have to wait a while.. so it defeats the whole purpose. but waxing is still less painful fo sho.. ![]()
i used to epilate many years ago, you eventually get immuned to the pain and doesnt seem so bad if ur doing it regularly.
still waiting for info on laser treatment from someone who’s tried it.
I see what you mean about epilating, and another advantage is that once you've bought the epilator then thats all you need. With waxing the cost is ongoing each time.
What info do you need on laser? Basically you go along and have a test patch done to ascertain how high the laser should be and whether your skin's suitable. If you're tanned then you need a different kind of laser for example.
When you go for a treatment you'll be given some goggles to wear, the therapist may decide to shave the area being treated, and then a gel is applied.
The laser itself isn't too painful, especially if you take a couple of painkillers beforehand. Its like someone is snapping elastic bands on your skin. Underarms are the most painful. And during treatment you can smell hair burning which can be scary at first but is really a good sign.
Usually you have 6 week gaps between treatments and you should see results in the first couple of treatments. You still to complete the course however to make sure the hair follicle has been killed.
Between treatments you can't wax or epilate, only shave.....basically anything that removes the hair from the roots isn't allowed because then laser won't work.
Hope that helps.
Have you found that the epilating has reduced the hair growth? increased it..or is it just about the same?
I had a rishta date from a guy who was a plastic surgeon who used the laser hair removal in his practice...this was a little over 2 years ago. ... at that time they found that many of the women were not satisfied with the results and had regrowth so they were discontinuing use. He said he had tons of women come in most of them south asian/latina/arab and they all had regrowth...
don't know if the new lasers are difft.
my mom got it done last year…she’s had amazing success with it…u should find a someone who is used to dealing with desi skin…cus if i recall my mother said it makes a difference with the procedure…i don’t rele know too much but i’ll ask her for details

please do ask her. It would be awesome if i didn't have to shave for a while..how long did it last for your mom?
I think the new lasers are different, because where I went they guaranteed hair loss. If not they offer free top up sesions in the unlikely event that hair regrows.
