Re: Younis renamed captain ?

It was a conspiracy all along by Younis so that Shaharyar Khan resigns from his post.

Re: Younis renamed captain ?

this will make a lot of players nervous in the team...especially the ones who have been against Younis including Inzamam.Dr Naseem Ashraf is probably going to make some more strong decisions in the following days and get a few more people fired.I wonder if Inzamam is going to regain his place as captain now.

Re: Younis renamed captain ?

Yea, it's confirmed that Younis is the captain for now..

I mean what the crap is going on with our team. First he refused to lead, then Mr. Khan leaves his post and now this drama of Younis to take back the leadership. I mean it's going so rampantly random.

Anyhow, it shouldn't have happened but we can definitely look for a brighter future.

Younis Khan reinstated as captain

In a u-turn that would make politicians the world over proud, Younis Khan has been reinstated as captain of Pakistan for the Champions Trophy by the new head of the Pakistan Cricket Board, Dr Naseem Ashraf.
Ashraf was addressing reporters at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, having taken over late last night following Shaharyar Khan’s resignation. He said, “Our team is no less than any in world cricket. Our first priority is to unify the team for the sake of the country. We are looking at a positive future for Pakistan cricket and in that light Younis Khan has been reinstated as captain and Mohammad Yousuf is to be his vice-captain.”
Rumours were rife late last night following Shaharyar’s resignation that the captaincy would change hands once again. Two PCB officials had admiited to Cricinfo that a change was likely though Bob Woolmer, the Pakistan coach, had strenuously denied it. Other changes are now expected and Ashraf has set the ball rolling by sacking Mushtaq Ahmed, who had been recently appointed assistant coach to the Pakistan team. Mushtaq’s appointment had raised eyebrows recently as he was one of the players implicated in Justice Qayyum’s match-fixing report, an inquiry that had recommended Mushtaq be banned from holding positions of responsibility with the Pakistan team.
Ashraf said that he was under instructions from President Pervez Musharraf, also Patron of the PCB, to streamline and clean the board. "All irrelevant staff will be purged within 45 days. “There is no place for politics in cricket and transparency is needed. Cricket will be run by cricketers and the board by good administrators.”
Younis had quit as captain on Thursday morning, claiming darkly that he didn’t want to be a “dummy captain.” It was thought that he was unhappy at not being taken seriously by board officials over a number of issues, including the selection of Faisal Iqbal as a replacement for Inzamam for the Champions Trophy squad. Younis told reporters, “I have taken up the captaincy for the nation once again. Even if I wasn’t captain I would have given my full effort as a player.”
Younis’s resignation led eventually to Shaharyar’s and in a full circle of sorts, the latter’s exit has paved the way for the return of the former.

Re: Younis renamed captain ?

oh my god what is this drama........anyhow I am happy that Younis has been re-instated

Re: Younis renamed captain/Younis reinstated as Captain

Younis back as Pakistan captain](BBC SPORT | Cricket | International Teams | Pakistan | Younis back as Pakistan captain)

Younis Khan has been dramatically re-instated as Pakistan’s cricket captain just two days after asking not to be considered for the role.

The news comes some 15 hours after the resignation of Pakistan Cricket Board chairman Shaharyar Khan.

He was replaced as chairman by Nasim Ashraf, who met with the team members in Lahore before appointing Younis.

Ashraf then told reporters that Mohammad Yousuf, Pakistan’s captain for two days, would now be vice-captain.

The team fly to India later on Saturday to take part in the ICC Champions Trophy without regular captain Inzamam-ul-Haq.

He was banned for four one-day internationals, ruling him out of the tournament, which led to Pakistan’s search for a replacement skipper.

Younis, Pakistan’s regular deputy, had been expected to take on the role. But on Thursday he said he refused to be a “dummy captain”.

Ashraf said: “Younis has agreed to lead the side again after I spoke to him and explained things to him.”

He also said Sussex hero Mushtaq Ahmed had been released as assistant coach, explaining there was “no need” for the role.

Younis had agreed to take the captaincy again because he had a lot of respect for Ashraf.

He said: "The last two days have been hard on the people who wanted to know why I had left the captaincy.

“I just hope we can now put everything behind us and try to do well in the tournament.”

It is thought Younis had been unhappy at the call-up of Faisal Iqbal, a nephew of former captain Javed Miandad’s, to replace Inzamam in the squad.

The PCB threatened disciplinary action following Younis’ announcement on Thursday, but that now appears to be a distant prospect.

Re: Younis renamed captain/Younis reinstated as Captain

:) ...I knew something like that will happen soon... :)

In my opinion...holding back Mushtaq is not a good thingy...

Re: Younis renamed captain/Younis reinstated as Captain

So much drama can only be bad for Pakistan cricket. Let's hope they can put this behind them and perform well in the upcoming tournament.

Re: Younis renamed captain/Younis reinstated as Captain

Just when u thought it was over, they spring another surprise....only in Pakistan...

Do these ppl even know the meaning of self-respect? What will the world think of them? Such dramas can only happen in day time soaps or Pakistani cricket, watch out Bold and the Beautiful and Desperate Housewifes cause Pakistan cricket team is coming with their show called...Desperate, Bald and Ugly Pakistani Cricketers and their officials....

Only good news coming out of this fiasco is removal of Mushtaq Ahmed as the Asst Coach...rest are a bunch of jokers....

Re: Younis renamed captain/Younis reinstated as Captain

if i die of heart attack some times soon , the reason is definatly PCB:grumpy:
shuker hey MYK is back as caption … i feel bad for razler and MY though .

Re: Younis renamed captain/Younis reinstated as Captain

Hope all players are on the same page? What about the speculations about senior players, who were opposing Younis as Captain?

Re: Younis renamed captain/Younis reinstated as Captain

interesting that musharraf got involved here.there are speculations that sharyar khan did'nt resign on his own he was told to do so by President Musharraf.I am glad they sacked that free loader MUhstaq Ahmed .he was in the team for nothing.Things are gonna get real tight now,Ashraf will probably discipline players like afridi and other who have had problems with Younis Khan and may even drop them if they continnue to be arrogant and selfish.
