If that is truly the case then I have not pity for Yunus. I will totally agree with people who said that maybe he is not ready yet to be a captain as he displayed hot headedness this way....

^If he had been given the role of being captain then surely he should have had a say in the decision of who is picked as a replacement or Inzi

who says he didn't ....and like others were saying untill we know for sure ....this is all speculation as to the real reason for all of this...
so lets wait and see...

If it's just a matter of selection of Faisal Iqbal over Asim Kamal, Younis is at fault. He would not have been the first Captain of a cricket team to not get all the players he wanted. WE have Brian Lara falling out with the Windies board over selection matters recently, and captains struggle with selection committee all the time.

If this was the only reason for his over-reaction, then he was definitely at fault and he has done a great disservice to Pakistan and to himself. As much as we wanted him to lead the Pakistan side, there's no shame in accepting that you are only being made Captain for a match or a series and it may be a while before you establish yourself as a good captain and EARN some CLOUT OVER SELEcTION matters.

If it was just over selection disputes, it's a real shame!

according to espnstar news sharyar khan made younis khan wait for 2 hours outside his office when he went there to question the decision by selectors to include faisal iqbal in the team that ticked him off and he decided to resign.
if thats what happened then i think Younis Khan absolutely did the right thing. thats very typical of govt Officers in Pakistan to treat everybody like chaprasi. youis khan should have been shown more respect and consulted before the inclusion of faisal iqbal otherwise whats the point in him being a captain.Well done Younis Khan for taking a stand against these prcks.

Well I won't be surprised if that what happened.I was listening to Moin Khan the other day on geo and he explained something similar. PCB executives do treat players like dirt.Moeen Khan was saying that he was once invited by PCB chairman at his office and then made to wait outside his office for 4 hours and when the time came for him to meet him,the pcb chairman went'what do you want'.These people a lot of them with army backgroud have huge egos and treat others like crap.

Sad, sad, sad.....this kind of behaviour is unacceptable, but when matches can be forfieted then why not decline captiancy in a press conference.

We still do not have Yunus Khan's side of the story, unfortunately that side may never be revealed because of contractual reasons.

The way things panned out there must have been more happening for Khan to go meter, he is not that sort. Having said that, lets wait and see....

btw who wants to captain a team when you can't call all the shots. I won't be surprised at all if Inzi is involved in any of this mess. He is known for his internal bullying.

Very interesting developments I must say. I am shocked to say the least; my opinion is that Younis is playing one of Imran Khan’s cards when he resigned twice as a captain because of the selection committee. If that is the case than Younis is stupid, he is nowhere near Imran so to pull off a trick like this when the only thing to support his captaincy is a perception that he will make a good captain.

Pakistan team, no matter how much clouded in Mullah and Islam, had harmony in it. There were no ifs, buts among players and no politics involved. No matter how much we question Inzamam’s captaincy, he never tried to pull the team apart. News about him not yelling at players…etc is the example. He is like a big brother to them and no matter how bad a captain, he does a good job keeping the team together and makes sure the team wins. He has been the anchor in majority of the series where he won or helped us draw tournaments.

I do not know what Younis achieved from this step, whatever it was, not the best time to does it when you have your entire team gone through an exhausting period of ball tampering allegation. He should have sucked it up, led his team as a captain and won matches. Leave rest whether he should be a dummy or replaced when Inzamam returns, things like that for future.

^inzamam not yelling at players?oh he is such a nice religios guy.inzamam got involved in a brawl with younis khan during the 2003 world cup,and they had a huge fight once again during the west indies tour when afridi refused to open on instructions of younis khan.Inzamam is no angel just because he is a mullah with a beard...infact he can be quite the opposite at times.Younis Khan is a nice guy,he would'nt do something like that unless he was pushed to.and ofcourse in a team like Pakistan where there always has been a cut throat environment,you need to make decisions like that to survive.

If Younis Khan is dropped or excluded from Pakistan national team...for a long time on disciplinary factors...any other cricketing country on earth would be happy to give Younis its nationality...

PCB is a bunch of dumbos for sure...

That 2003 brawl was not under his captaincy, moreover that Afridi; Younis thing was straighten out the next day. Please come up with a solid argument next time.

Inzi is not captain material. He simply does not have what it takes to rally his troops. Younis, I thought, would have made a much better captain as his style in the field is very proactive whereas Inzi is laid back. I am sure there was a valid reason behind Younis' decision.

It was not younis Khan's fault on both occasions,during the world cup inzamam was out of form and got ticked off for nothing.and in that test against west indies younis khan was the captain and afridi had an obligation to obey him and inzamam had no right to intervene and tell younis khan that he is still the captain...goes to show what kind of a person inzamam really is behind that 'dhari'.

What cud have led Khan sahib to go meter? Lets examine the possibilities:

  1. Most popular version being paraded is Khan not being consulted in team selection (Faisel Iqbal). Now that seems just to easy an excuse and makes Yunus the fall guy. I do not buy it, cause Khan is a team player.
  2. Khan was made to wait for hours by Sherry Khan and then snubbed, thus his pathan meter. Here again it sounds dubious cause these things happen all the time and Yunus is no patsy.
  3. Saleem Altaf misbehaved or ridiculed Yunus, that Iam willing to accept. Saleem Altaf does have an abrasive personality and has been itching to show his petty personality since Inzi was in the driving seat Altaf had to wait. Very possible, but then again not good enuff a reason for Yunus to say I do not want to be a dummy captain.
  4. Inzi & Co kept on interferring with team management completly ignoring Yunus as the new captain. Now that sounds plausible.
  5. Senior players refused to accept Yunus as their captain. That doesnt make any sense cause Yunus has been vice captain for the last two years and has led the team in absence of Inzi. Does not compute.

Take Woolmers interview a few days back in which he stated that Inzi not playing was a blessing in disguise cause the team has got to learn playing w/o Inzi one day or the other. Add to that Inzi's insecure personality, Mushy (Asst Coach) playing his dirty game of creating divisions favoring Inzi and fears of Yunus being successful.....perfect recipe for rebellion....all very speculative but completly possible....
