Prolly no one else faces as much criticism as Younis Khan does at Khail Khilari. Almost every other guppy (with an exception of few) will ask for younis khan’s head as soon as he fails to deliver. No one bothers to care that after all the guy has scored seven test centuries in 34 test matches ( not bad at all haan) with an average of 38. Racial outburst is at its peak against younis khan. No one bothers to remember his well-deserved century against Sri Lanka last year and his brave batting in Australia on several occasions. And just imagine the pressure this brave pathan was facing in Calcutta. His whole career was at stake for no reason. But he showed his guts. I am sure almost all of these guppies who know very little about the cricket at the first place would succumb to such pressure right away in the real life.
I don’t understand why these guppies hate him so much. He is extremely professional as confessed by former coach Pybus several times, super fit (he ran almost whole day with great passion for those sharp singles in humid Calcutta) and a sincere human being. It is amazing how these BAE-SHARAM guppies who never get tired of yelling and insulting younis khan fail to appreciate him when he performs well. If nothing else, great Imran khan has spotted him for captaincy and there should be some reason behind it…..But guppies don’t care……I bet they will be after him in the next test match again……ahhhh Poor Younis Khan….
Thank You so much Khan for leading the side first day when skipper was out of the field with such a great passion, fire and intelligence…and Thank you for this great century…May God bless you and you go all the way for a double century today…Ameen
Here are some links from cricinfo in praise of Younis Khan
I really like this one statement attributed to Dravid, that is part of an articleon CricInfo todayRahul Dravid recently said, in an interview to The Wisden Cricketer, “most of the time you are neither as good nor as bad as people write and say you are.”
look this is why i had opened the other thread, to see what people who saw his captaincy thought and all i saw except for a few were extremely negative remarks! and practically calling him a goon. i think it is because he is pathan. but ill stay away from that speculation. 7 centuries and 10 fifties in 34 matches! i dont think goons score 7 centuries in 34 matches! 1 on debut, 1 against india, west indies, and also recently against SL, he had a good tour of australia, probably the pick of the pak batsman, he just didnt get the big scores but was the most consistent. back to his performance here, almost every article i read, they say that his captaincy turned the match around, and yes cricinfo too. all the indian papers also. Imran sees this man as a great leader, and Rahul Dravd went to his hotel room in icc trophy in england and told him ur a very good player and you will perform when given a chance. and if these immature guppies really watched pakistan cricket over the past 3-4 yrs he has been one of the best fielders! 1 bad game and its amazing how everyone is calling for his head!
I am pathan and I am the biggest critic of Younis and I am stick to it since the beginning. The inconsistancy that he has in his career from day one is not of a innings-anchoring one down player. Malik has shown more consistancy than him at that position. So batting wise he is just an average domestic level batsman like many others in our National team.
Captaincy.....hmmm....that time will tell how good he is and if he manages to be in the team for both versions of the game. I see a Ganguly in making (who most of time does not deserve to be in team).
But to be fair, he is very inconsistant and does’nt often have match winning performances.
Also as for the Pathan thing… for the bro who brought it up…
Shoiab Akthar is by FAR the best bowler on this team, the stats speak for themselves. The media, PCB, fans and people on this website are constantly scapegoating Shoiab and harping on him, when his talents and results are unquestionable. I wonder why no one has ever questioned why this may not be due to racism towards him or wteva.
Younis Khan is One of us - You show me one ‘Racial remark’ about Youni and
Bring some credibility to your ^ out-burst.
More or less I know quite a few good people on these forums and yet to come across one who would ever abuse or hurl ‘Racial’ remarks as you have stated.
On the contrary I accuse YOU of ‘Spoiling’ the mood and momentum of 'Fan Fare Cricket lovers die hard Guppies on this forum’ with your ‘emmotional patriotism’
We all know Younis Khan very well and don’t require any “CricInfo” source to tell us what Younis K achieved in his life time.
Perhaps it would be benefiting for you to follow few posts here to give you an insight of healthy criticism Younis and others are going through here.
I agree with you to denounce people who use abusive language and personal remarks about ‘ANY ONE’ in particular. Those notorius idiots are still entangled in ‘Relegion and Culture’ forum.
Don’t worry Phoenix, Your Pathan Younis is ‘Safe’ here on KK.
kahan rehtay ho bhai? who says people are against him for being pathan or anything like that? why would people otherwise ask for Yasir Hameed or be happy for Shahid Afridi’s performance? You need to change your glasses and drink a cold glass of water. I follow cricket to see good cricket not to see an average batsman being nominated as vice captain. The guy has played 33 test matches and averages around 37.94 and you are defending him as if his average is 54 and just had one bad Test. This same guy has played 111 ODIs and pathetically was able to score a century only against Hong Kong, now that is some calibre of a Vice Captain. You sure have some standard of cricket.
We have better prospects in one down in Shoaib Malik and I’m sure our domestic cricket is waiting to pour out more talents than just Malik.
Anyway, the guy has as usuall performed when people were questioning his inclusion in the team. I’ll give him a shabash for that 147, good job, I only hope he scores more often than not.
There are other Gavaskar specials, do you really wish to compare Younis with Gavaskar or you just mentioned Gavaskar as an example of century-no-criteria. I hope that latter is the reason. I agree that ODI century is not alone a criteria of analysis, but if we have someone who can perform better than him in both forms of cricket then why persist with lower performer?
Anyway, Younis is now VC had one bad test with bat and in field and then came back with a century… he is likely to atleast get 2 more series, I just hope that he performs, all the best.
So a one-dimensional guy scored 700+ runs on his debut series against the mighty West Indies in the West Indies? BTW, that one-dimensional guy still has the record for most centuries in Tests.
Yeah that was in tests…what the hell has he done in shorter version of the game…and how many tests and series did he win India…If individual averages and runs are the only criteria to judge a batsmen ability then whats the point of the whole team…
And the mighty West Indies in that series had probably the worst attack in their history…Gibbs and Sobers were the only reasonable bowlers and thats being generous…Sobers ignominity as a bowler is that he has the highest average over 35 for all bowlers with 150 test wickets or more… a medicore bowler at best…
Gibbs was a spinner…never a hard proposition for Indians to handle and he too averaged 32 in tests…not exactly world class…
Also, Gavaskar in the typical mold of an Indian batsman broke the record of being the most selfish batsman in the history of the game....To hell with the team, I am going for my average.....Thats the motto Indian batsmen operate on.....just look at the way Tinda batted in the first test.....
