This is the question which non-hindus ask hindus which makes hindus un-comfortable...and many times they ask to make them uncomfartable (perhaps you are doing the same now:D)...
As per mythology, Brahma was cursed by one sage that he will never be worshipped as he didn't pay attention to him when he visited him. He didn't pay him any attention as brahma was deeply engrossed with a women whom he himself had created(Brahma is considered as the creator). In other words, he had married his own daughter saraswati!...That is why he was cursed.
I will also give counter arguments which hindus give to explain this..
Saraswati is just a creation of brahma. He created her out of nothing and not daughter per se. I mean, She was not born out of womb of another women whom brahma had married.
No body is perfect. Even gods make mistake. So he too will be cursed.
It is a mythical story created so that people learn something out of it.
There might be one more explanation. I have forgotten as to what it is. I don't want to know also now
i thought there was another explanation. Lord Shiva cursed Brahma because he told a lie. The lie was that he found the end of shiv lingam.
It could also be that this might be a story of Shivaits to down the vishnavites.

There are such contradicting stories....don't know which one is true. But am sure not to bother about them seriously. They are all mythology with some moral stories.
ok mr. agnost I have never once meditated in my life so I have no idea what i’m supposed to think about or say while doing it. Anyway, it’s too noisy here so can’t think about getting myself to “nothingness”.
pooja is huge in most families who are from hindu faith.
and that is a very good thing. inspiring and one feels that other faiths are just as spirtual as own.
Yes, I have lot of interesting veg items. I use dairy products made from milk, like curds, cheese, ghee.
There are a number of varieties of soups available. I regularly use corn soup, tomato and mixed vegetable soups. I also have the sour and spicy soup. There are some other soups which are made from green leaves and I do not know the equivalent english names.
Though Of late, I have got interested into juices or special medicinal soups. I have found that these special juices / soups can be a good supplement to regular medications. My dad has good knowledge of traditional herbs and I turn to him for some gyan on these things.
1)When home(india) I go regularly. More like I like to visit temples for getting out of stress.
2) No particular god.
3) Yes
4) complete non-vegetarian
5)Parents and elders are respected. U should not raise voice to elders. U should stand up when an elderly person comes in. Things like that.
^yea I love to go to the temple when it's quiet and the atmosphere is so nice with the smell of incense after pooja. It definitely helps to de-stress :)
In laymans language…It is more to do with black magic/dark powers and all those fun things. I am sure, you have baba’s in pakistan who do all kinds of Jinn crap…the only difference is that tantism did originate from the vedas and are related to hinduism.
aaaww sorry yaar, I didn't mean to seem all snooty but I actually thought you were kidding about wanting to become a tantric as a teen that's why I was giggling b4, I didn't know u were seriously considering it when you were younger. Btw, where did our other resident semi-atheist Birdflu go?
I was always interested in the crazy black magic/evocation stuff......I remember having those Bhoot sessions during our college days in the dorm.......We would try summoning a spirit in a coin in a dark room with few candles.....some nights would be crazy when we had some kinds weird things happening around us. I remember one night during our bhoot session the windows slammed in our room(Could have been because of wind but was a calm day) but we were totally freaked out....that night four of slept on one single bed.....me being the bravest of all sleeping on the end and the rest between the wall and me.....Good Ol' days, But I still can swear some things which happened had no rational explanation at all.
Just wondering why would a pure veggie not have dairy products…This reminds me of one of my #$@# german teammates who kept bugging me why I did not eat beef but had cows milk and other dairy products. One time he asked me in the middle of eight ppl during our office lunch, I told him hey…Did you have your mother’s milk when you were little, then why don’t you eat your mother’s meat too? There was silence in the room for few seconds and I bet he got his answer, And from that day onwards he never bugged me about my eating preferences.
Ok i’m one person that gets scared to death of ghost/spirit stuff so just reading your post gave me chills. There’s no scientific explanation of whether ghosts exist or not but i’m personally too scared to say that they don’t exist for fear of one jumping out at me at night:bummer:
Talking of spirits, I would like to relate my experience. Coming from a Hindu family, I have seen during certain ocassions where people "call" goddess and I hav seen some women possessed by this spirit of goddess or a departed family member. Of course i always kept in the background cos I was so scared, but I could see everything. Never found any explanations...perhaps you can help me out....this happens a lot during navratri. My siblings too get freaked out by this.
I really like soups … and i would love to know about some pure vegi-soups. I have heard about some lentil soups , that they are really tastey. Mind if you tell about some of your favorites ?
Since i belong to meat eater muslim society , so inevitably meat ( all kinds ) get so much emphasis… But I strongly believe that vegitarian dishes have so much variety. some of my favorite dishes include lentils and rice ( daal , chawal) cooked to my liking :k:
