Something is seriously wrong with a society where people aren't safe to drive at night, where it's not safe for girls to DRIVE alone, where people must wait till sunrise to DRIVE in safety, where people judge the girl and the parents for giving them the freedom to move....way to go!

You do realise they were in their own car driving back home, when stopped, kidnaped and then raped? I fail to understand how that equates to "putting the meat in front of dogs"! "Dogs breaking in butcher's van and robbing it of meat" is closer analogy here. They didn't stop or picked these animals for lil bit of "fun", as some would put it.
Back to the topic: A rape is rape, it doesn't matter what moral values or outlook the victim had.

could you please stop being sarcastic and try to understand what people are discussing here. No one is justifying that act or poo pooing the victims. People are just discussing the environment that we are in and how careful we need to be to save and protect ourselves from being a victim. Not all but some crimes do happen because victim was at the wrong place at the wrong time. This case was one example of that.
Now please tell me that after reading this news, you will not ask your family members in Karachi not to go out after certain time and ladies should never go out alone in the dark. I hope you do and instead of just condemning the crime and criminals, make sure that innocent people take responsibilty of their own safety also.

I was just in Pakistan recently for my winter break, pretty much visited every major city in the country. The observation that I have found which is really hindering is that people there are impervious to the fact that we have SO many problems. We have this, chalta hai, chalney do mentality and no desire to improve things with a zeal. People fail to realize the fact that to the outside world we have become a laughing stock and a shame. I remember an international poll that said that Pakistanis in Pakistan thought pretty highly of themselves, whereas the opinion outside of their country about them was less than favorable. As an example, since this unfortunate and horrible incident happened in Karachi, this one time I mentioned a report about the Economist ranking Karachi as one of the worst places in terms of livability, some people took it to their heart hurled abuses and my thread was even pulled by the director saying he was offended by the report. There are a million things wrong with us, and we are in denial about it, and this denial will pretty much finish any hopes that we have left to improve. Rapists in Pakistan go unpunished and walk like champions because we do not do enough to make sure they are punished. Yes, there are carjackings, murders, and rapes and other such crimes in other cities/countries but unlike most of them, we refuse to do anything to curtail them. In the end, my thoughts and prayers for the victims and their families and hope the perpetrators are apprehended and punished to the maximum.

Maybe these girls left the "party" because they didn't feel safe there. People need to stop bashing the victims. It could have been anyone going from one place to another at that time of the day.

I heard an analyst saying that rape and kidnaping cases (such as the one we're currently focusing) have increased significantly in 'posh' areas of Karachi, it could very well due to people getting targetted at those parties by the bad apples that may very well have been present at the gathering and being familiar with people who attend. They sure need to launch a heavy investigation into this incident.
