It's about labeling Kaleem and some Pakistani's find the term Paki to be derogatory and the term Jew has also been used as a derogatory term at times and some would find that offending. Even without the possible underlining derogatory implication of these terms some people would be distressed that they are being labeled in such manners at a place of business since sterotypes are so prevalanet, that's the case in the U.S. as well as Pakistan.

I am glad you empathize with hundreds of Muslims who enter US (US citizens and visitors / vistors with stamps of Pakistani visits) and are detained at the airports for further ‘background checks’. Intially they are all labelled as ‘suspects’ but the label is removed once their story checks out.

i dont get it...is saying " i met with the jewish couple down the street" offensive? i personally dont think so....so than whats wrong with writing "jewish couple" on a tab...it was the waitresses way of identifying who they were.
This isnt about discrimination....why do ppl get so sensitive about these issues?
Saying "there is the muslim couple" is not offensive...
it all depends in what context ur using these phrases in. obviously the above phrases is not considered discrimination.

Interesting topic. The fact remains that stereotypes about certain groups are prevalent world-wide. The fact also remains that a particular stereotype does not necessarily apply to all the members of the group. I am sure there must be many sikhs out there who possess above-average intelligence, including myself. So, if a person choses to apply a particular stereotype to a member of a group, then that is that person's choice of action. So what can other people do about it? If the jewish couple responded to her that it was a false assumption in their case, would that have changed anything? Muslims reportedly have a short temper...does that apply to all members, probably not. So the question remains, what do you do with these stereotypes? Some comments you just read/hear, shake your head and smile, and then walk your own way.
