You Jew...

Re: You Jew...

I think the thread was titled 'Racism'...

I couldn't find it...

Re: You Jew...

Jew as adjective is often used as a slur. If it had been Muslims and the waitress wrote "Islamist's" I'm sure some Muslims would get upset.

Re: You Jew...

How could the waitress tell they were jewish? no tip?

Re: You Jew…

They wrote “Jews” not “Zionists” :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: You Jew...

^^

Actually, not even Jews...'Jewish couple'...

Silly Billy: :D

Re: You Jew...

Black couple - does that sound offensive to you? How would you react, if you were called that.

Re: You Jew...

there's that inferiority complex showing through once again. i ask again, why does the rabid muslim feel the need to diss jews?

Re: You Jew...

Because the word Jew has been used in a deragatory way against jews... The word has gotten a really ugly face to it... I think jews perfer the politically correct word Jewish.
I mean, its the same sorta logic that made Paki a bad word in Ebgland while the PC term is Pakistani etc..

Re: You Jew…

Why does Gupshup have more than its fair share of idiots? Probably because posting privileges are free and therefore it attracts uneducated, unemployed riff raff that can’t afford the bus fare to spew their hate in some downtown park.

Re: You Jew...

Lajjo these people were singled out . Which is in no way a compliment. You understand? It would be offensive. Assuming you think as the couple did. If somebody wrote "Muslim couple" - it wouldnt be that it wasnt true. You would wish to know the reasons. And mind you it doesn't seem like one would write it as anything but an insult.

Re: You Jew…

Come on MV…Silly Billy’s comment was a funny one…

MQ: What’s wrong with singling out?

Let’s say you have two neighbouring families whose names you don’t know and one family if black the other is white…

How would you refer to them? As a white family and a black family obviously…Is that offensive? Or have we taken political correctness to the point of redundancy…

Re: You Jew...

Lajjo I don't tend to refer to people based on their colours. See, the point is the woman here was doing something she doesn't normally do. And why would should she single them out?

Does she write where every single couple is from? I doubt it. She was clearly offending them here.

I don't see why she would do that, but if the same was done to me, I would definately ask why she did such a thing.

Re: You Jew…

Actually it was ‘Jew couple’

Re: You Jew...

if someone called bangladeshi as bangali they get very offended too!:D

Re: You Jew…

so the couple offended by the word “jew” not “JEWISH”?!? <— later sounds like YOU WISH. I think Jewish Couple sounded more appropriate, waddya say?

Re: You Jew...

Lajawab has raised a valid point. What's so offensive about being identified with a certain country or religion? Does it strike up that much insecurity? Would it have been that much of a big deal if it had been an African American couple? Why the discrimination? Did the blacks have it any easier than the Jews?

If you're really that concerned about being "found out" then maybe you should ditch the skull cap, dye your hair blonde and shave that beard. It's all about intention, it's not as if the waitress had cracked a Jew joke or something. She was just doing her job, it was totally harmless.

Re: You Jew...

Are you talking about "Ice Jew's"...?

Re: You Jew...

This reminds me of an story that happened to me at my old work. We had a guy name Richard who a little retard if I must say and would ask me all these questions related to work and world.
Once in a while I would get pissed off and call him words like "nut bag" "badoongadong" and stuff like that.
One day he was asking me something really stupid and I called him a "Kike". He thought I made up the word and asked me what does it means.
I told him to go ask our other co-worker David.

I totally forgot David is Jewish... OOOOOOOOPS!

Re: You Jew...

How would you all feel if you were in place of this Jewish couple and were called, "the paki couple"? I am sure quite a few of you would be offended.

Re: You Jew...

So the girl is in trouble cuz she 'wrote' it?
This politically correct culture is quite interesting. It's good yet bad at the same time. It's good because people are more conscious & careful about their choice of words...It's bad because the fact the girl sees them as the 'jew couple' doesn't change. Now that the couple is upset, I'm sure the next she sees a jew couple she will write 'the b!tches at table 4"
