How is it? Does it really help, or is it a bunch of fluff? Can you describe your experiences if you’ve tried it?
Re: Yoga
I never believed in it. I never practised it. I don't understand why it's getting popular in the west.
Re: Yoga
i had a friend who was an avid yogan. It toned her up quite well. Look at madonna: nuff said.
Re: Yoga
yh....gives u relaxation..."ommmmmmmmmm"
but yh it really helps if ur depressed or want sum serenness in ur lyfe...for a while anyway...and its good for ur body...strechin and tha rest...
Re: Yoga
I don't believe Madonna for a second when she says she got a body like that just from Yoga - it's impossible. Personally I think Yoga is fluff if you're trying to lose weight - it complements all your other workouts but you can't replace it with cardio.
But then again there's Bikram Yoga, where they have boiling pots in the room and set the temperature to 40 degrees celcius, and it gives you another workout all together. I knew this really fit gay gora who swore by it.
Re: Yoga
There are different types of yoga. Some are very intense workouts.
Hatha is slow and gentle.
Vinyasa is more intense and breath orientated.
Ashtanga (power yoga) intense and fast paced.
Iyengar emphasizes holding poses for a long time.
Kundalini is rapid movements and breath.
Bikram/Hot Yoga is a 95-100 degree room that produces sweat to loosen muscles and cleanse the body.
I've done yoga once in a while since my teens but mostly I jogged or walked. I think it really does help with flexibility, lengthening and strengthening muscles. It also creates better posture. I don't practice the spiritual aspect of it myself, nor would I take a class that emphasizes that aspect. As a physical exercise I think yoga is great and can improve health.
Re: Yoga
intermediate yoga is good for relaxation and a general sense of well-being. you can take it to the spiritual level and use it as a spiritual tool. it is a very slow but more permanent method of weight loss though. yoga masters swear by the benefits though. They claim to having control over their bodies. its a fact that yoga improves posture, flexibility and tones the body and relaxes to a great extent. the point is for the movements to be slow and controlled in order to create focus....
Re: Yoga
Power Yoga is more of a proper workout. If Madonna was doing that, then I am not surprised she looks the way she does now. For me, Power Yoga is difficult! I've only done it a few times.
Regular yoga, which is more gentle compared to power yoga, is actually quite relaxing.

You are right Catty, she got a body like that by sleeping with the guys from NBA.
Re: Yoga
I took a class once cause i was intrigued but could not work on the focus the energy out of the third eye concept- i guess just cause its not part of my religious/cultural setting.
Re: Yoga
Over rated and a waste of time.
Seems boring to me, a good few stretches and a cardio workout is much more effective.
Re: Yoga
Kaleem, Dennis Rodman was it? Yeah as soon as I get married I'll be hitting the gym less often.
Ashtray, pray tell what 'tantra' is. Didn't Sting used to practise it.
Re: Yoga
Ashtray..Id lik to try some Tantra with you love... I;ve got all of next week off..think you could last that long?
Yoga is fantastic...it toned my up real quick...and I lost inches from my arms back and thighs...you feel fresh after a work out and it works wonders for your muscles.
Re: Yoga
It's probably not the only method that leads to such results, but I really liked it. Should take it up again.
Re: Yoga
omg i wanted to kill my instructor, he was picking on me soo much just bc i wasnt being flexible. i mean, im tall, and fat people arent flexible. stupid bastarr
Re: Yoga
yoga is just stretching - yes just streching. Nothing special.
Re: Yoga
I luv yoga, it basically leads u to a strong body, stress-free mind, a calm heart.
