Re: Yoga
I used to take yoga, and then i got lazy and stopped. But basically it helps you feel really relaxed and rejuvenated. It is kind of like a conventional workout, minus the sweat.

Re: Yoga
^^ you must be kiddin...I sweat more at yoga than I do joggin on the tread mill!!!
Re: Yoga
^ Not kidding. Maybe you need to pay more attention to the rythm of your breath rather than the actual positions, since that is the very essence of yoga afterall...Or so our instructor used to say. :D
Re: Yoga
a prerequisite for anyone who wants to practicse kamasutra to the fullest.grinning
Re: Yoga
I did it finally. It builds some flexibility and def. stretches your muscles. It was worth it. Its not for those who want an intense workout.

Re: Yoga
yoga has become really popular in pakistan as well... my cousins were doing it for a couple of months and it did help them a lot!
ive never tried it though....
Re: Yoga
Doing yoga helped me realize that I really rush through namaz far too often, because if I concentrated, and paced myself, namaz offers many of the same physical and mental benefits, and of course more spiritual ones.
Re: Yoga
Namaz is a far better exercise than Yoga. My 80 year old grandmother and my 60 year old mother haven't yet lost a single tooth and have rarely seen a dentist (my grandmother has never been) thanks to their habit of performing five times Namaz, while my sisters have started loosing their teeth. Regular gargling before Namaz has kept my grandmother and mother's teeth healthy and physically fit.
Re: Yoga
^ Thats the first I have heared of that :)
How old is ur sis? Is she loosing wisdom teeth?
Re: Yoga
prayer to god is not exercise. its a spiritual connection with God. dont look for its materialistic benefits in order to show how "valid" it is.
because yoga really IS better than namaz as far as exercise is concerned.

yes it helps alot u start sleeping more than 15 hours
daily.
Re: Yoga
Yoga is also a part of Hindu sprituality and that's why I compared Yoga with Namaz. Somehow I hate Yoga.
Re: Yoga
mmmmmm yummmyummmm.rare indeed.
Re: Yoga
I take this class yoga/pilates. It helped my body get flexible and very helpful.
And depends on the instructor as well. You do want instructor to go slow i have seen some chinese chicks rushing through it. If you pull a wrong muscle by accident you will be going through pain.
It sure makes you feel good and 15 min in sauna afterwords are simply heavenly
Re: Yoga
in some cases its not harmful to look at the material benefits, after all islam encourages learning n education.things like these ,in my opinion, strengthen ones beliefs wen some new research highlights the newly discovered benefits of what we practise.one does sometimes say ‘SUBHANALLAH’ ;wah kya baat hay n this way faith also gets stronger wen one understands that wat we do has ,in addition to what is ordained and has spiritual benefits, also material benefits in our so called materialistic n scientific life .Just my opinion.
and yes yoga is purely exercise and isnt it a beautiful thing that we get some of its benefits, from the age of 7 yrs, thru namaz ,which is our duty n leads to peace n spiritual fulfilment.
Re: Yoga
yea. it also saves us from alot of diseases.
