Are you offended when someone calls u a paki?
Is there a difference in ur reaction if the caller is from the different/same race than urs? I see the term niger being used casually among African americans although it is considered offensive otherwise.
Is it a matter of tolerance, sensitivity or principles?
According to one of the dicionaries on the web following is how they describe this term.
Main Entry: Paki
Pronunciation: 'pa-kE, 'pä-
Function: noun
Etymology: short for Pakistani
Date: 1964
chiefly British, usually disparaging : a Pakistani immigrant *
"If any other ethnic group were to call me Paki, then I would be severely offended.**

i mean yeah ppl do get offended, like here in england most gore use paki as a swear, they actually call all asians paki be it hindu ,sikh or any religion.i'd prefer to be known as a pakistani.my british frinds now use the term pakistani instead of paki.
Isn't it like that though, people always pointing fingers at Arabs and calling them terrorist. Well, I don't care if anyone calls me that because am I one? NO, so be it then, doesn't bother me at all. Its better for them to fear me then I fear them.
Come to think of it, I re-evaluate my roginal position. If a random Persian or Arab came up to me and called me a Paki I would probably be offended by it. On the other hand, I wouldn’t mind any Arabs who I was good friends with calling me a Paki, and I certainly don’t mind my Iranian friend calling me a Paki.
Well Majestic, in truth the odds are that if you called me Paki I would feel some degree of offense, as you are not amongst my circle of good friends. Of course, with you being my sister in Islaam and fellow guppy, I would gave you a fair amount of leeway too, and wouldn’t get angry
And I would never call anyone an A-rab, simply because that term exists solely in American English and not the British English that I speak. In British English, there is quite simply no derogatory derivative of “arab”.
I know this phrase "paki" is used mostly in UK. But I would not care if someone calles me a paki or whatever else. Firstly dont we call other nationalities names like the Americans the "yankees", we here call the Yogoslawien "yugos", the Austrian people we call "Shwaboos", so its all cool, secondly I guess only those people get named calles who act in a backward way. No offence.
Why not just call everyone by their name? That'll fix that. Now, if you are referring to someone from another country such as Pakistan, why not call them Pakistanian People or Yemenian, etc. Paki sounds cool, sorta exotic too me.
Why are we so ready to take offense at anything so quickly. Unless you have a lot of free time on your hand to continue debate or if you are a regular WWF material to take on anyone who says “Paki”, I’d suggest you carry on with your lives. There are more important things in life, than arguing with someone who says “Paki” to you. Though never been called as such, but I don’t think I will take offense at it.
But if someone is to say “Pukistan” or “Porkistan”, sure go ahead and blast their heads off!
