Re: Yet another in laws thread
what makes you think i am punishing you?
Peace NomiCA
LOL ... It is when I behave mockingly at you ... you show me admiration ... you retaliate probably out of respect in a good way with me ... and that makes me feel guilty for mocking you ... that guilt I feel is how you punish me ...
Re: Yet another in laws thread
Well my theory goes that guys have a lot more good to say about their in-laws than the girls have about their's ... let's see if I'm right ...
Guys are most welcome!
Here u go
my MIL cooks my favorite dish whenever I visit them. She ask me to sit on the chair which is neat to pot containing my fav dish, does that count?
my MIL in law always pet my head with 'shafqat' no matter where are we meeting (yeah even when I have spiked my hair with Gel :D ) . On top of it she says "beta baal tu kharab hoon gai liken main tu peyaar karoon gi" :)
my SIL, makes me Tea at night whenever I m staying there no matter how tired she is. I told her not to but she knows that I like a cup of tea at night.
my FIL always send me the books on the topics I like. I just asked him once in early days of my marriage when he was coming to visit us in US but since then he always buy a book or two for me and send with whoever is visiting.
I can list on and on :)
Re: Yet another in laws thread
Okay here...my MIL brought me a gold nose stud coz she knew how much I love nose studs.

I don't think my mum would know something like that about me ... and I don't particularly care for nose studs, but they do decorate the nose.

What do you mean I like nose pins on girls? ![]()
Re: Yet another in laws thread
:) I liked this tale. You have other incidents to relate? Tell us more :)
Ok, I have 1 more. Hubby and I were engaged, both in the US. I had recently graduated with an MS degree. A few days later a very close friend of mine emails me from India saying "your FIL is just awesome!" She told me that she was at a function and my in laws also happened to be there (in laws didnt know her, but she recognized them from my photos). FIL was distributing mithai to everyone for my graduation and telling everyone who would listen about me. We weren't even married then! What blew me away was that they didn't even mention to me that they were doing this - they just went ahead and did it because they were so happy!
In the initial days of marriage, my in laws went the extra mile to make me feel part of the family. That made such a huge difference to our relationship - I genuinely care about them now. I hope I am capable of being this nice to my future DIL if and when the time comes.

When it came to duud pillai at my wedding .. My MIL put Mountain Dew in the glass for me to drink as she knows I hate desi milk..
There are many others... you have to focus on the positives not the negatives..
Re: Yet another in laws thread
Everytime i visit Pak my inlaws buy my fav foods like the fresh fruit in season etc. My devars go the extra mile to bring me chaat or samosay or whatever i like to eat. My nands ask me what should be cooked for lunch/dinner. My youngest devar always gives me a ride, no matter what the time of the day it is to wherever i need to go.
Re: Yet another in laws thread
am actually really liking this thread :D MA
Re: Yet another in laws thread
whenever I visit my in laws in canada, my MIL cooks for us..fresh rotis..mmm...
Re: Yet another in laws thread
When my MIL was visiting last year...she cooked every day and even when i helped or tried to cook myself, she would just tell me to go take a nap cuz the baby is sleeping and i should take advantage of it.
she would also always take the baby from me in the middle of the night if he was screaming his head off and i couldn't get him to fall back asleep. at the time i used to feel so sad because i was a new mother and i really wanted to be with him every second of the day/night, but thinking about it retrospectively, that was SUCH a huge favor. she could have easily pretended that she couldnt hear him but she always came over to help or take him off my hands even if it was 4am!
