Yeast infections are due to a fungus, not a bacteria. I don't think antibiotics will work on fungi.
I think.
antibiotics dont work for yeast infections....and yup there are over the counter preparations available....but if someone is having the symptoms for the first time ,the best thing to do is check with the doctor....as it might not always be a yeast infection and can b sth else.....which can lead to future complications....
Listen ladies. If god forbid you have something wrong "down there", GO SEE A DOC. Some of these things can escalate to the point that it will affect your ability to have children. Innocent infections, left untreated or treated improperly, can have disastrous effects. It can and does happen to the cleanest, purest of gals, nothing to worry over, the docs see it daily.
Ira’s right, cranberry juice is for UTI’s (urinary tract infections).
Yeast infections are opportunistic, when your really stressed or your normal vaginal flora is wiped out - typically after an antibiotic course.
I would suggest you please see your doc & take meds, as it’s the most effective way to get rid of the yeast infection. Eating yogurt will help. Baking soda douche (google it) helps with the burning/itching symptoms - baking soda will neutralize the pH. Hope it helps.
Edit: I have never heard of ginger being in such a form. Please don’t.
if you r really lookin for a desi remedy, apparently applying copeous amounts of yoghurt helps....(i'm sorry for viewing/replying to the thread-but thought this might help, since no one has mentioned it as of yet)
Really u need to go to the docs/chemist and ask for canesten cream, or the equivalent in your part of the world...
PS-
Generally nothing to do with personal hygeine- just one of those things that happens
You are not making chicken karahi that you need to insert ginger....i mean come on that is a sensitive area and you are thinking about trying out desi totkas???
Go see a doc asap. Infections such as yeast or uti's left untreated can lead to much more.

On the contrary, desi totkas, or herbal remedies do seriously work...think about it- the world of pharamceuticals only evolved in the last few centuries, yet mankind has been around for thousands of years- always suffering from ailments and various illnesses-how have we survived....through these very herbal remedies!
Although I agree it's best to see a doc as soon as possible...but what the lady has said (yeast infection) is hardly gonna make her infertile (allah na karray)...
Mr. Kazi: but how sure is she that she has a yeast infection?? We don't know that yet. I agree and myself use desi totkas for many things. I have treated yeast infections with just drinking yogurt lassi. But, what i am saying is if you are not sure of the problem why take chance with something like ginger?? When just peeeling ginger can cause burning sensations...God only knows what it will do when inserted. Khair, that is just how i feel on the topic.
Apparently most patients have a good idea of what is wrong with them when they present to a doctor. I’m sure this lady isn’t so naive, she’s probably heard of what a yeast infection is like, or perhaps has suffered with it before…
as for the ginger, i’m sure it has to be made into some kind of paste, with other ingredients before being applied to that area…however, what the lady has done, which is sharing an unusual idea, may have prevented her from harming herself by using the ginger…
PS…Where did the chiken karahi come from…its kinda outta place in the femminine hygeine thread!
