Yasir Hameed

Re: Yasir Hameed

I did a search on cricinfo for taufeeq umars test stats EXCLUDING the matches in which he played against bangladesh. Here's the link to the stat's:

Mat Runs HS BatAv 100 50 W BB BowlAv 5w Ct St

unfiltered 22 1610 135 42.36 4 9 0 - - 0 32 0
filtered 17 1246 135 40.19 3 7 0 - - 0 27 0

unfiltered are all the matches he's played and filtered are all the matches except for ones against bangladesh. You are right, bangladesh has affected his avg tremendously by raising it by 2.17 runs. This is profound

Re: Yasir Hameed

oh and its yasir hameed whose avg drops from 42 to below 35 when you take out all the matches he has played against bangladesh

Re: Yasir Hameed

So even if you its only 2.17 runs, thats still an average of 40, and he is supposed to be a specialist batsman......Imran averaged almost thirty eight in tests.....Our standard has deteriorated so much that we are tolerating a sepecialist batsman having the same average, an allrounder would have....

Re: Yasir Hameed

Well im sure all of us would love it if we could find an opener of someone say Anwars calibre. But that fact is that all we have are batsmen with great "potential" and "talent". We have to persist with someone be it Yasir or Taufeeq but more often than not the young guys are dropped from the team after a good performance. I think we should stay with our current opening combination for the rest of the tests.

Re: Yasir Hameed

I say we start looking at the technically correct talent in domestic arena. After all we have found Asim Kamal that is an excellent example of technique and professionalism. No matter how pressurising is the situation, he remains calm and plays his usual game based on basics with head down.

Someone posted the top 50 performers of the domestic session a while ago. None of these chay chakkay (butt, taufeeq, hameed, younis, malik and Farhat) had good numbers. Looks like the hardworking talent without parchis are sweating in the domestic matches hoping for someone to pick them up, but that will never happen. A certain group of ppl and lobby have the final say in selections. Pakistan will suffer in years to come with these policies.

Re: Yasir Hameed

I think that of the group mentioned, Malik has shown his worth. I think Butt still has great potential and should be kept on.
As for Farhat, Younis Khan and Taufiq I simply cannot imagine how these guys keep coming back to the team despite their repeated failures.

Re: Yasir Hameed

Just like Saleem Elahi, Zahoor Elahi, Misbah Ul Haq, Naved Latif, and that other idiot (Mohammad Hafiz) who has been playing as a pathetic excuse of the the off spinning allrounder, batting as high as one down, keep coming back and playing.......And guess what they all have in common?????

The longer the cricketers, particularly batsmen from Karachi are ignored, the longer Pakistan's cricketing woes would last......

Re: Yasir Hameed

^I agree with you that if batsmen from Karachi are getting ignored it is bad for Pakistan cricket since most of hte best batsmen in Pakistani history are from Karachi. Though I aint sure that they are getting ignored right now. I thin kit might just be a development cycle lag due 2 all the violence in Karachi in the mid to early 90's.

Re: Yasir Hameed

I don't want to say or approve of the politics being going on but PCB definitely needs to look at the pool of talent available. There are so many batsmen who are performing "consistently" in domestic area while all PCB does is picks up a guy from domestic who has hardly played a 20-30 matches and then keep trying them over and over while ignoring those who perform regularly.
