Yasir Hameed may have had success in few domestic series but to me hes not a player of international calibre.. the way he was playing Australia was evident that he lacks skills to play international cricket.. he seems to be an hard working player who has improved his game but he has no natural talent that is necessary for any international player.. he seems at odd with out going balls.. hes too concious when playing .. I think Taufeeq Umer was much better choice than Yasir for opening Pakistani side..
Taufeeq Umar is a waste...I would rather have Afridi open than him...Yasir Hameed is a class act and is a very talented player...and he is definetly willing to learn. This was the first time he faced the mighty Aussies, so no one really expected him to do anything spectacular...he is still new to International Cricket and we must give him time to prove himself...and since the horrible World Cup, he has been the only real find of the team, and the statistics tell the same story.
The fact is, you cant go out and play the Aussies right away...it takes time to peform against a team like their callibre....Yasir definetly has his weaknesses, especially of trying to play every ball to the off side, but he's working on it and he will improve :)
i personally dont feel that he is that good player...his performance against b-desh has made him a big player...well, stats do favor him a bit, but at the opening position, we want more committment from his side...he is definitely not a opener material....he just looks like another "imran nazir" to me, who started well, but will be unable to carry on with his performance...
as for taufeeq...i personally dont like his game...in all the matches that i have seen him play, he didnt seem impressive to me at all (specially in ODIs)...he doesnt seem to have class (thats just my opinion, but it is based on stats)...
i disagree bhia with u on that one.. i just think that he isnt in form these days.... other than that i dont see anything wrong in him.... and the way he was playing against aussies was okay.... cuz at that pitch.. all we want was to save the wickets... even in the begining australia was playing in the same manner..
insahllah he will perform in next up comming series.... you will see :)
Come one guys, you guys are jumping to conclusion on Yasir Hameed. He has a 42 average in ODI. He's a young player who hasn't even played in 50ODI yet.
I agree he's not in form right now. But the guy who said he has no natural talent is really smoking the sticky icky icky. Have you not seen his drives to the off side? He's a touch player. Against Australia he was playing really well until he got careless with Brett Lee.
well if u look at his statistics, he has scored most of his runs against b-desh and nz (and that too on the home grounds)..
and lets look at his statistics:
Team Matches Runs
v Australia 1 17
v Bangladesh 6 366
v England 3 56
v India 7 278
v New Zealand 12 509
v South Africa 5 202
v Sri Lanka 1 22
so i dont see how u r saying that he was playing good against australia...
and Zoab_Khan, getting careless means that he is not a good player, coz a good player will never get careless, nomatter who the bowler is...
A player with class means teh player plays with ease all types of bowlers and on all typesof pitches.. timeing and the ease with which a player strokes and more importantly finding gaps! If we see Yasir he can stroke the ball but can he find gaps with ease.. I hav eseen him struggling with timing and becomes frustrated and plys irresposible stroke after that.. opening position is very important.. no dobt hes young with a great wil to excel but I dont see him a class player at all..

did you not notice his average against India is around 40, against South Africa around 40? He has played only one game against Australia and score 17, what did you want? a century against Aussies?
hey Captain, so what r u saying??? what wrong in him hitting a 100 against australia?????????????????????
if u say that against australia, 17 runs are adequate, then i dont know what to say to u...

Well Inzi hasn't hit a 100 against Ausi's as well which kicks him out of a class player list as well according to your criteria. Actually his avg is just 28.84 against australia in 28 matches.
I am pretty sure Yasir would be able to achieve that in 28 matches if given a chance.
I hope Yasir makes a century in tomorrows match against Australia.. I am commenting about his batting technique after seeing his few innings.. his inability to pace his innings in times of stress.. he should look for gaps than trying to hit fours..
u guys r typical losers....
the guys fails to perform well in a couple of matches and straightaway u want him out....
he may not be stylish (like imran nazir) or may not have a good footwork or whatever, but the main thing is that he stays there and gives us a good decent score....
he is the best opener we have had since anwar....
Team Matches Runs
v Australia 1 17 ------------------>only 1 game
v Bangladesh 6 366----------------->avg of 61
v England 3 56 ---------------------> avg of 19…his 1st series against england
v India 7 278 ----------------------->avg of 39.9
v New Zealand 12 509-------------->avg of 42.42
v South Africa 5 202 --------------> avg of 40.4
v Sri Lanka 1 22 --------------------> avg of 22—only 1 game in which overall score was 123…
so against teams that yasir has played atleest 2 games…only his avg against england is poor…and that too cuz it was his 1st series in england…and was the beginning of his career…so he cant be blamed
also… refer to this…
http://usa.cricinfo.com/link_to_database/ARCHIVE/CRICKET_NEWS/2004/SEP/036424_COL-STATS_02SEP2004.html
hameed has scored around 15% of pakistans runs since WC 2003…and is 2nd behind Sir Viv Richards for having most runs in 1st 20 matches
and if BD was sooo easy…y havnt oder players cashed in as much…look at imran nazir fer example…he failed against them in both asia cup matches…
ps…the avgerages here dont include the NOT OUTS…
yasir hameed is goona be a great player... he's made the most runs in cricket this year he should have been on the cricket awards list or whatever it's called... back 2 back centures on his test debut... his cover drive is gorgeous
There is some talent in hameed thats why he is in national team, i know in last few matches he did not performed up to his task but that does not mean he does hav any talent in him or bla bla negativ thinking. On every player there is some bad patches but i hope he will be ok in next few matches.
Rethink Yunis Khan all you like. Yassir is pure class. We don't have enough talented young players to let a phenom like Yassir go. This is'nt hte mid 90's when guys like Aamer Sohail, Saleem Malik and Saeed Anwer were on the team. Then we could ignore a guy like Basit Ali.
Now we have to hold on to a great young batsman like Yassir - he's here to stay. I think he just needs some practice outside of Pakistan.
kick out Youhanna, Yasir Hameed and Abdul Razzaq
just kidding. few days before everybody (well, many people) had a sword in their hands for Yasir Hameed, Yousuf Youhanna and I’m sure after Razzaq’s ONLY 15 runs today some people will take out their swords for Razzaq’s head ![]()
These guys are really good players, please check your cricketing before you say anything about these three specially.
a very good performance by our batsmen (many) today. If Imran or Shoaib (Malik that is) had batted better we had better control of this game. Anyway, Pakistan zindabad and onto ICCCT with more confidence!
