seriously what the hell is going on??? I mean yes we all knew that Pakistan will be playing very minimal cricket this year, thanks to the dopeheads at PCB, but all of a sudden it seems like there will be no criket at all till the Indian tour. That means Pakistan didn’t play a single test in or outside Pakistan and played few measly ODIs this year!!!
I know all this information is nothing new for all but the most surprising part is that no one seems to care about it. PCB is trying little bit to do something which obviously is not working but what’s wrong with other countries and the stupid ICC???
I admit that Pakistan had very few competitive games to play this year including the series with Australia in April, a 3 ODI series with Kiwis (yes I cant believe that I am considering that competitive but given the current circumstances it sounds competitive now) and the Champions Trophy.
With all of the above cancelled (and please don’t call them postponed because we know they will never happen), Pakistan is left with nothing.
Is it only me who thinks that this is becoming a very very dangerous situation for the future of Pakistan cricket?? With local games almost gone for the next few years, Pakistan can only bank on foreign tours now which tradionally have been a rarity in Pakistan cricket (I am talking about competitive ones which also includes a 4-5 matches test series).
Is ICC realizing that this situation can actually kill Pakistan cricket or they don’t really care since the decision makers in Pakistan couldn’t care less???
I was thinking seriously on where Pakistan cricket is headed. I raised a few concerns as CT was getting negative response from the rest of the countries and when SA was the first one to decline on the grounds of security. Let's face the fact that the security will probably never change for the better, there will always be a threat involved, smaller or on a large scale. Champions Trophy is shifted (canceled rather) to next year, and what is the guarantee that it will take place? What is the guarantee that Pakistan will be allowed to host World Cup matches in 3 years' time? This situation has really become bizarre and ICC have left a lot of questions unanswered. If the CT is canceled altogether next year, it is going to cause major issues with upcoming World Cup and matches will be relocated from Pakistan. The apparent security issue that was given was meaningless. The passion with which General Dickason (chief security advisor of Australia) refused to see the things in a balanced manner, where was he and his quick one-day stay before the IPL blasts? Where was his patriotism then when the lives of his players was at high risk of being exposed yet no fear was detected in their dressing room and the eager to finish the IPL tournament on a high note was profound? The statement that Australia have been relying on his word for 10 years is nothing but a cover-up.
The decision-makers of PCB, they have tried. They organized and prepared a high-profile ICC security delegates tour, everything was A-to-Z PCB. I would say they did push until they couldn't push longer, and after that, it was all ICC-show. The decision-makers however did push to have a tri-series tournament involving South Africa on their home turf which was also rejected and they had a valid reason to do that, so it is basically no cricket, let alone competitive cricket. This year alone, Pakistan has been more in the headlines on everything off-field, and less in-field.
I really have doubts whether Australia will even think about touring Pakistan for a half-season (what a joke, half tour now, half the following year). We might as well think that all future tours to Pakistan are canceled until World Cup, how is the situation in the country better in one year? It is just sad that we have to look at next year to move from the current position we are in (square one, no cricket) to play Australia (square two). And we will be in square one as long as there is a threat involved.
btw, What an irony that Pakistan has to rely on it's dushman country to play some real cricket. Pakistan should lighten up on Kashmir , otherwise hum bhi aapke saath kirket nahi khelenge. I mean we will take our ball and go.
On a side note, we paid Afridi $650K to score laddoos in IPL.....and it turns out that he could not bat well because his Captain (Laxman) was not aggressive enough. One request to Afridi - Please keep your public *mein doosron ko nangaa karne waali *culture on your side of the border.....we don't want it rubbing off on our players.

I guess the decision makers can be blamed for not working their butts off and thus not providing enough opportunitues to Pakistan to play competitive cricket. These hasn't been much exciting on ICC FTP for Pakistan off late thanks to them.
Good idea! let's keep playing non-stop with Bangladesh until they become better than Pakistan. Given the current circumstances that shouldn't take too long.

You are a reincarnation of Attal Behari Kabaab Vajpayee!
And that is the perhaps the second biggest problem on anything involving Pakistani cricket. With no international-quality games all year, even a series with another sub-continent team gets no priority. At least PCB pushed the issue of demanding ~$2.5 million from the broadcasters and did not settle for less (pun intended).
On another note, before all the issues started to rise for CT, PCB stated that it would slash ticket prices 30-40% (CricInfo). I wonder if the seasoned-ticket prices would apply for India series or would they be reduced. Empty grounds for Asia Cup would have one think they may come down to earth.

KIYON apna qeemti waqt za'ya kar rahein aap loge Pakistan Cricket pe...:(
Yaad rakhein....Pakistan ke dou mas'a'lay kabhi hull nahin honge;
To solve Pakistani cricket matters further, India has rejected Champions Trophy proposal for 2009.
Since ICC allowed Pakistan to have the “first preference” to host the tournament, I am afraid ICC will give Pakistan the “first preference” to step down as organizers and we will have no option left but to comply.
With that said, a sigh of relief. Pakistan was playing too much cricket anyway, this will be a much-needed break.
