Saying Ya Muhammad Madad or Ya Aba Bakr, Omar, Othman, Ali Madad.. does not mean O Muhammad Grant me or goodness. It means Ya Allah, I ask you by the virtue of your honored and pious slave. It is completely lawful.
In Al-Bukhariy, the Hadith of the blind man who came to the Prophet asking to make du^a’ for him, the Prophet taught him to make go to where they make wudu’ and to perform wudu’ and to pray tow rak^ahs and make tawassul by Muhammad, and within the du^a’, he taught him to say: **“..Ya Muhammad, I direct myself to Allah by YOU for my need to be fulfilled”. **
This has been taught by the Prophet, would the prophet teach shirk?!! as wahabies say! Ma^athallah. This is one proof. If some deviant said to you: that was during the life of the Prophet, you can’t do it after his deaht, tell him: we follow the Prophet and his Sahabah. at the time of Imam Uthman, who was a caliph, Uthman ibn Hunayf taught a man who had a need the same du^a’ that the Prophet taught to the blind man which had tawassul by the Prophet and that was after the death of Prophet Muhammad. There are more proves that we can give if needed.
Ya Allah Madad.
Allah Knows best.
