Who says Pakistanis dont like Pakistani singers?
Your parents probably tell u to stay away from the likes of junoon and vital signs etc. Well, on the flip side, they probably listen to the likes of Mehdi Hassan and Attaullah. Every generation and every age group has their own favorites.
Point being, if a particular cross section of the public doesnt like a particular genre of music, doesnt mean they dislike all music coming out of Pakistan. American parents can frequently be seen trying to keep their kids away from the likes of Aerosmith and Kid rock etc. Doesnt mean they dont like american music.
And perhaps another reason is....we tend to compare our music to india's. We have to keep in mind that india is a country 10 times the size of Pakistan. We dont exactly have to do everything at par with India.
And PS...i love Pakistani singers and songs.

hmmm…perhaps ur parents have a different taste in music than u (like akif mentioned as well)
and yes, pakistani singers are getting better…as for ppl not appreciating them, well, it depends on the person…some ppl simply have a different preference for music…others just don’t want to be associated with pakistan, want to forget their roots, and in doin so, despise everything that would even remotely attach them to pakistan…so there can be a lot of reasons…
If you do not hope, you will not find what is beyond your hopes…
someone in this forum said that videos of Paki songs (not the movie songs) are turning towards vulgarity/nudity (not TOTAL nudity of course)... may be thats why they want you to be away from it...
BTW: did you ask them why not listen to Paki music?
$ehar baji… the reason why many people do not
like Pakistani music is because Indian music
is more mainstream and exhibited more to the
mass media compared to Paki music… when
a paki song hits sorta mainstream like ‘billo de ghar’
many paki parents find those songs despicable cuz of the
hints and suggestions it makes…
but if Paki music does have more mainstream attitude
especially since the internet…
it would begin to be enjoyed by everyone
i.e. I hadn;t known Junoon existed since
I got the internet about 6-7 years ago.
Are you in the U.S.? If you want to be a dentist
and a singer… I say think about the repercussions of the field of singing…
there is a lot that goes on behind that stage
that we all would be like astaghfurulllah
but if you are sensible and know hot to keep
faith… i say try it out… I mean Salman
Ahmed from Junoon is actually a doctor with an MD from King Edward Medical College…
so if the singing doesn’t go well or fades off you would always have something to fall back on
mmmmmmmmmm. But people say its a bad field. And my parents are afraid. If i get in to pak music more and i m getting in to it.They are scared if i go against them to take the singing field. But they know that i can b a dentist but they dont want me to b a singer.I m totally confused.Yah I m in USA.I happy to b a dentist. But I want to b a singer too. What should I do?

It happens. My parents have always been skeptical of my musical interests. But I guess as long as my studies are going on fine and my career keeps on getting the right breaks (hopefully), they are cool with it.
