WUD & Maddy

thanx for that Maddy......i'll keep that in mind...

maddy my love I am pulling an all-nighter

My friend came to visit over the weekend, so I didn’t get the book or its paper written. So, I am taking a break right now  Catching all you ppl in the wrong time zone and listening to some blondies

Once you get past a certain point the lack of sleep isn’t so bad :mudhosh:

so if u do damn well in ur GCSE's but not that well at ur A Levels but then do damn well in ur degree....is that a bad thing?....

LOL… that’s so true about the lack of sleep. Have you been ensuring a regular and steady caffeine intake? What’s the paper on?

I remember my most legendary all nighter. Started doing a major paper (25-page long) about a month before was due in, on a Monday night at 8:30pm. Thought that I would do about 2 hours of work, just make a start on it. But then I really got into the swing of things, realised that my brain was firing away kicking out good ideas, and just didn’t want to lose the momentum. I literally worked almost non-stop for the next 13 hours (the only breaks I took were to pray and make coffee) and finally finished the 25 pages at around 9:30am the next morning.

Then I just staggered into bed and slept till about 7pm. But daaaaang that felt good, because a month later my friends were all panicking that they hadn’t done their huge evil mother of a paper, and I managed to be all smug that “Yeah, I did mine a month ago”, and just had to work on refining it

mines not THAT long, its just 4/5

However, its a matter of getting through this incredibly boring book :bummer:

Its an anthropology paper on some random religion with an infinite number of dieties :smack:

pats maddy on the head  you’re such a good boy. :hehe:

You'll need the good A-levels to get into a good uni. The other thing is that when it comes to recruiting time, your potential employer will look mainly at your A-levels and expected degree result. Most importantly, many employers stress a minimum level of UCAS points.

For example, for my job you must have at least 24 UCAS points. For some banking jobs, you need 26 or even higher. For accounting jobs with the big accountancy houses, they normally require 18 UCAS points.
Generally though, getting 24 points i.e. BBB in your A levels will keep you viable.

One more thing Aashi. Please don't assume that if you don't do well in your A-levels, you can make up for it by doing better at uni.
University exams are MUCH harder than A-level exams. I've seen very very few people do better at university than A-levels. Most people do worse. And that it despite the fact that grade boundaries at university are lower (i.e 70% = A).

Before I went to university, for as long as I could remember I was an A-grade student. I left uni with a B-grade. (60% or higher). I've seen this happen to plenty of my friends at my university too.

University studies are tougher than anything that you will have seen before.

Just noticed this…

Aashi, mind if I ask where Salford is and why you chose there? Also, what were your other choices?

Salford in very near to Manchester......
