Writer families

There are some writers who transferred their writing skills to their next generations.

Do you remember any such writers around the globe?

How do you see new generations of writers carrying name of their forefathers? Were they able to leave same impact in their writings or they are more talented than their elders?

Bhutto family is very much criticized for dynasty politics, but the family transferred writing skills to their next generation very well. Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto has more than a dozen books (mostly on political topics) on his credit. Benazir Bhutto inspires the readers with her writing skills in her books ‘the daughter of east’ and ‘Reconciliation: Islam, Democracy, and the West’. Fatima Bhutto ( ZA Bhutto’s grand daughter) has made her place in literary circles through her articles and books including the latest one ‘Songs of blood and swords’

Ayesha Jalal - grandniece of Saadat Hasan Manto has proved her writing skills by writing various books on South Asian history

Re: Writer families

Think and share if any of the top Pakistani writers (both for prose) like Ashfaq Ahmed, Ahmed Nadeem Qasmi, Mumtaz Mufti, Ahmed Faraz, etc transferred this to their next generations. If not, what could be the reasons?

Re: Writer families

Another family of writers.

Anwar Maqsood ( famous playwright), Fatima Suraya Bajiya and Zehra Nigah (Poet). Bilal Maqsood (Anwar Maqsood's son) probably tried his hand on writing lyrics for some of his songs.

Inna Lillah e wa Inna ilehe Rajiyoon. I think her husband was also a writer

Re: Writer families

In 1967, she married Syed Shakeel Ahmad who was a civil servant

Re: Writer families

another political family which is very much into writing is Paleejo family.

Rasool Bux Paleejo wrote many books including a diary of Kot Lakhpat Jail (during MRD). Shaih Ayaz who is considered as modern Shah Latif of Sindh commented about Rasool Bux Palejo that when Palejo translate and explains Shah Latif's poetry it become 20 times more clear.

Palejo's wife Jiji Zareena Baloch (who was famous folk singer and also acted in some of PTV dramas) also wrote many short stories in Sindhi and translated stories from other languages.

Re: Writer families

Javed Iqbal also continued the writing like his father Allama Iqbal, but most of his works are about the life of Iqbal.

Re: Writer families

Just husband and wife were involved in writing?

Re: Writer families

I think their son Ayaz Latif also writes articles in Sindhi newspapers. Palejo's granddaughter Sassi Palejo got a passion for culture and archeology of Sindh and being minister of Culture department of Sindh, she made some good contribution including revival of Bhanbhor site, arranging seminars on Bhanbhor and publishing works of classic Sindhi writers. May be we can see a good writer in her in future :)
