a divorced person?
as in, they failed at making their relationship work, so what makes them authority to give relationship advice?

The logic of this thread is along the lines of “never trust a skinny chef”

there are two different things you are talking about here:
you're assuming they failed in making a relationship work
you're also assuming they don't know what not to fall for now
Re: would you take relationship advice from
absolutely yes...in a marriage, having knowledge of the solution to the problem is one thing and applying it to the situation is quite another. most people know what's right and what's wrong...yet, they mostly err in it's application.
Re: would you take relationship advice from
A divorced person has experience of “what to avoid”, “stress signs to look for in a relationship”, “hindsight” as well as “the importance of compatibility”, and so on … People who have not failed in their relationships to the extent of marriage often fail in their relationships on temporary levels … especially on long weekends …
… but you don’t think of asking them the same question as the OP … because one assumes they are “good” at it … There is not a fortnight a close couple can go through without having a disagreement … yeah, only if there is a formality and a rigid distance between the two in a marriage then they can get by months without arguing, but are they good for giving relationship advice? I think not …

well given that virgin marys like sherrykhan, zareenkhan, ashy2057, sta are the cutting edge of advice on life1 regarding anything from finding marital partners to pleasure loss and birth control methods, i don't see why someone who's actually had experience being in a relationship should be excluded.

Yes i take an advise from a woman whom i respect most as my friend. She is divorced. And just so ya know buddy. Being divorced doesn't mean people "failed" to make their relationship work. It is sometimes better to be divorced then live a life of misery!
Re: would you take relationship advice from
They have more experience than an un married person and can probably give you the less rosy side of things, then again, one of my friends was going through a very messy divorce and I avoided asking him for advice, not because he was divorced but because he was dealing with it so unhealthily I doubted his ability to think rationally.
Guess it depends on how the person dealt with the divorce and how long ago it was, if they dealt with it well then I would prefer their advice over someone 'happily' married.
Re: would you take relationship advice from
I would take advice from anyone whom I trust. His/her status wouldn't matter. The key word here is "trust"

If anything a divorced person can give better advice than single or married.
Its good to learn from mistakes, its better learn from others mistakes.
