Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

If they were hungry, or would u cook them something quickly?

If you were a guest, would be offended to be offered cheese and crackers???

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

lol cheese and crackers are yummy. as long the stuff tastes good, i don't care what's served.

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

depends, are those the handi-snacks? lol

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

yes I would serve them but then if my guests looked hungry after the cheese and crackers (i.e my hubby's paeto friends) I would take them to Khan Kabab House :)

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

I mean are htey dropping by unexpected? cz then.they shouldnt' be offended at whatever i serve em. But depending on a number of factors, such as time, the person dropping by etc, i would serve it as an appetizer, and try to make soemthing quickly as I could.

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

Cheese and crackers are often served at hotel conferences and professional development meetings. They are served as appetizers even during formal occasions. Nothing wrong with that at all. Some people don't go beyond serving just drinks to their guests. Know what I mean?

And Halwa, one can make simple foods look classy and elegant depending on the way they are plated or served. Put something in a pretty dish...arrange crackers in domino style and cut slices of cheese and it can look very nice.

Another option is to prepare the crackers before hand. Take several crackers and place a thin layer of cheese on top and garnish with diced tomatoes, or olives, or peppers. And serve. No need to be self-conscious....you're fine! If they showed up unexpected....they shouldn't be expecting a lavish meal. They're lucky they're even getting crackers and cheese ;)

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

Hmmm, so the young ladies say yay, but the old men and women may say nay...

Would you offer them to your senior uncles/ aunts/ parents?

I think if i were to offer them to seniors, they would be gobsmacked (and quite possibly disgusted!)

Well, I like cheese n crackers, (especially when they r arranged nicely (RV style), but i don't know if the older generation would go for it.

I wonder if I can start a revolution, cheese n crackers instead of samosas and pakoras.

Yes, Rupayhalwa, totally agree with what you are saying...think the elders would not like it at all! :)

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

you know on the main forum the thread title reads

"Would you serve Cheese and Crack"

I thought what an unconventional thread, lets see whats going on here. So misleading.

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

I wouldnt serve only cheese and crackers to guests...would try to whip up something quick and easy. Just make sure your pantry is well stocked with goodies that can be pulled out at a moment's notice. It helps so much!

Thats a new thought, I could digress...

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

Yeah I would serve cheese & crackers but as a snack. If I know they are hungry, I would try to make something more filling quickly. And if its lunchtime or dinnertime, and not enough time to cook, maybe just take em out to eat.

I know if anyone ever comes to our home during lunch or dinner time, my mother never let's them go home without at least offering them a proper meal, if not a nice tea with stuff.

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

Cheese and crackers are not food , they are snacks/appetizers . A real meal needs to be served , make whatever is easy for you to make in such kind of emergency , even anday ka salan/egg curry will be fine .

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

But it doesn't mean that u have to have dinner if u r hungry, C&C will stop your hunger, it is still food.

I think Mirch uncle will be offended by it!

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

hell no, i wouldn't serve cheese and dry cracker..lol its so embarrasing..

Chai and biscuit should be fine. no embarrasing even for older ppl.

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

oh yeah glass of coke or rooh hafza just fine too...

Ok, a drink yeah, but WHY would it be embarassing? I mean, with some good medium mature cheddar, its rather nice.

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

If the guests were desi, then no, I wouldn't serves them. Desies have different mentality when it comes to entertaining a guest.

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

the guests who will come to my house would not come unannounced and if they did would not mind it, and if the mind it they will probably just raid the fridge.

No wrries, no formalities.

apun kay paas faltu tension ka time naheen hay bhai..

Re: Would you serve Cheese and Crackers to a guest in your home?

im sure many desi folks would be open to the idea of it, at least trying it. As long as perhaps something else is served as well. I tried this spicy spanish cheese last week, not sure what it is called, but wow, it had such a kick too it & was really really good.
Maybe instead o fjust crackers, also have little toast rounds/slices. You can evenmelt some cheese and top with a salsa or something.

I had served Olive Tapenade to desi guests for the 1st time, and they were scared to try at 1st, until i explained to them what it is and how to eat.....then they all loved it.
