I know many ppl who get married to their cousins. i am happy with it..

But what is your take on this subject. Please only mature discussions.

Personally, I don't prefer turning family into in-laws. If there are problems between the couple, they might spill over.

However, I'm definitely not against cousin marriages.

You know I used to think I would be okay with marrying a cousin if only there were acceptable cousins in the family...

Yeah, NO, that would never work for me nor am I gonna force it for my kids.

If you feel that your cousin would make for a compatible partner.....then other peoples' preferences is not going to (should not) deter you from marrying them. Islam allows it. And if you already ARE married to your cousin...and it's working...then really...what difference does it make whether someone else finds it acceptable or just plain weird/icky? It's not going to have a bearing upon your marriage....and if it does (then you have deeper issues to deal with). It CAN make problems with in-laws messy since marriage would make them doubly related....but you can also get some pretty nasty drama in marriages that are not consanguineous.

It's halal.....and then to each his own....whatever suits the individuals involved.

I wouldn't marry my cousin for medical reasons. I know more than one couple (cousins) who are facing problems and I have seen them go through years and years of medical treatment with no promising results, and one couple has even had to deal with miscarriages.

It also depends on how close you are to your cousins... I have grown up referring to and considering my male cousins my bhais.. so yeah... thanks but no thanks..

That said, if Allah mian says its halal and its ok, then I'm no one to say its wrong and eww and disgusting. So when I see a cousin couple, I'm perfectly ok with it.
