Probably not. Its not key i don't conmsider people of other sects muslims but just because of the difficulties that might come up. So if am not in love with anyone its better to marry someone of the same sect. :p
^my thoughts r the same...u'll just end up being confused& depressed &frustrated & also provoking the same feelings in ur kids.
I only want to marry a shia girl...I want someone who follows the teachings of Prophet (pbuh) and His Holy Ahle Bait..obviously she will be the one raising my children

well it depends... one might think of ahmadis n shias for being from another sect but the others might think they've got nothing to do with islam, do u get me?
I wouldn’t touch a muslim gal with a 10" pole.
NO. I want my children to be raised as good Muslims and do not want them to grow up and follow some deviated pseudo Islamic cult.
I will only marry a Sunni (Salafi) Muslima who believes in and follows the Quran and Sunnah according to the undetanding of the pious Salaf.
Saif, Don’t forget to send you kids for Jihad training when they are 3.

Why not???
Jihad against evil, terrorism, mischief, oppression, tyranny etc. is a blessed act if done properly according to the way of the holy Messenger (peace be upon him).
PS. Flying aeroplanes into buildings, blowing up places and injuring and murdering innocent human beings in not Jihad and those who do such things are destined to hell.

i personally believe.. that sects are man made.. im a muslim.. not a shia, sunni, ahemedi.. or nething else.. so personally it wouldnt matter to me if i marred a muslim that was classified by society as a different sect to mine...... as its only Allah Mians decision to differentiate..

I wouldn't marry a muslim from any sect or non-muslims just to prove I'm open minded and liberal.

Naee, they usually let the girl go, and the parents, if they want, are accepted back into the community.
okkkkkkkkkkkay guys, ya'll are totally steering off the topic, this is not about ahmedis and what not, the poor person just asked ones opinion on marrying outside of your sect, not about what is allowed in ahmedis and sunnis and shias.......etc........etc!
assalam alaikum
yaar what the hell is this ... I am a sunni & i don't understand why can't muslims be one. hum khud ko shiaa sunni me baant ker apni taaqat kam kar rahey hein ... now here is something i ask from those of you who being sunnis oppose marrying a shia ( or vice versa ).
according to the constitution of pakistan a muslim is a person who has firm belief on the tawheed and who is a believer of the Holy Prophet as the last of God's messengers... that means he believes in " LAA ILAAHAA ILLALLAH , MUHAMMAD UR RASOOL ALLAH " shias also believe in that . Then there are five pillars of Islam
shias believe in kalimaa , they offer namaaz , rozaa zakaat and haj . so they are also muslims and in my oppinion there is no obligation ( religious atleast ) if u marry someone from the other sect. aap christian se shaadi kersakte ho to y not a shiaa ???

Ahsan : it seems very easy but trust me in reality its very hard.
why because: different sect belives in same things different way. all are muslims yet all think differently.
Now let say you are suuni you would like to have ur kids to be sunni.
now if you marry a shia girl, what she is going to teach ur kids ????
in many cases i have seen people say yess we have decided that my shia wife will teach sunni to my kids 0r vice versa.
Why not let you shia wife teach her sect to your kids???? do you have answer to that .
because we are scared that someone from our sect will say hey you cant even make you kids true muslim. and trust me you dont want to hear that.
as far marrying a christan is concern = nothing wrong
but end of the day you have to see who will be teaching Islam to your kids , is it you or your wife, depends who will spend most time with that.
coz your kids might turn out to be christan. saying what is wrong with our mom's religion.

bhaai meray khayaal me yeh koi aisaa baraa maslaa nahee hai ... asal maslaa yeh hai ke hum apni ghaltee man'nay ki koshish nahee karte. bhaai suppose i have a shiaa wife and we have kids... to khudaanakhwaastaa woh meray bachhon ko kufur yaa butoN ki poojaa nahee sikhaaey gi . aik Allah ki ibaadat sikhaaey gee.. aik kalmaa sikhaaey gi .. panch namaazein bataaey gi ... 30 rozay bataaey gi ...so where is the problem
bhaai humaaraa almiaa yehi hai ke hum in firqoN me bat gaey hein ... har koi apne aa pko sahee aur doosroN ko kaafir kehtaa hai .. for me, jab tak aik bandee kalimaa parhtee hai , tawheed aur khatm e nabowat per believe kartee hai .. i have no problems marrying her. ..
jo loag yeh kehtay hein ke shia non muslim hein ... woh apne aap ko deikhein ke woh khud kitnaa amal karte hein islaam per .
jo kehtaa hai ke shiaa namaaz milaa ker parhtay hein and that is wrong .. they tell me ke woh khud kitnee namaazein parhtay hein ... bhaai yeh amal Allah ke liay hotay hein ... humein in cheezon ke baare me critisize kernay ka right nahee hai ... na a hee hum kisi ko ghalat keh sakte hein ..
and always remember

Ahsan, the underlying idea of your post is great, but it is more of a political speech. Seriously, do you think it's a good idea to doscourage difference of opinion? No, it hinders intellectual growth political & social maturity.
Do you think its practically possible to get the Muslims united? Has there been even a single period of time in the History of Islam when the Muslims have been united? History is witness, there is none! As soon as the prophet died, Muslims divided into two sects after only a few hours, and started quarelling over which group the Caliph must belong to!
I think the effort should to towards promoting tolerance rather than unity & uniformity. Steps should be taken towards promotion of respecting different opinions, not on eliminating them.

Well i am not making any political comments, nor do i have any intentions of discouraging difference of oppinion. every one has the right to maintain his/ her own opinion about any matter.
Speaking of unity among muslims I sorrowfully agree with you but atleast we should not take it for granted that the muslims can never be united ( Here I'd like to quote Sadzzz that sects have nothing to do with God or Islam .. they are just man made ) we should give it a try.
I think that you have misunderstood my post or have not read it propperly. All I was trying to say was that we should realise our mistakes and instead of critisizing each other we should learn to respect each others' religious beliefs. Believe me if we are able to do so , there would be an automatically generated unity amongst us. Mind it that I am not at all in favour of eliminating opinions. we should stop pulling each other's legs thats all .

Well sacts don't make any difference.
We are all muslims. And I don't think there should be any doubts while marrying an individual from another sact.
I hope all will agree.
