would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

**would you marry a “mentally challenged [retarded]” person Knowingly? what if you are duped into marrying one? would you then divorce him/her? would you stay married because its none of his/her fault that God created him/her that way?

please serious answers ONLY! thank you.**

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

Knowing few of the guppans here, the person who would marry any of them needs to be mentally challenged.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

I am married so yes...anything is possible.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

The main factor here is love...if I loved him...I would marry him even if he had a severe handicap. There is no telling what can happen tomorrow to me so his limitations will not discourage me.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

did you just watch that Indian Drama "Banno mein teri dulhan"?

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

It depends on how mentally challenged they are. If he can understand the concept of marriage and a wife and he is a nice person I'd be open to the idea. If its an extreme case, I'd try to help him in any way that I can, but I don't think that I would marry him.

more serious answer would be appreciated more. thnx

i envy that lucky man :)

saying is one thing and then actually doing is yet another thing. i appreciate ur feelings and sentiments. would you really go out and do that...KNOWINGLY! knowing that u've to spent rest of ur life with that person where u have to have children and then have to raise them...possibley all by urself.**

no. its a real situation. i've known someone who has DONE it!!!

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

I know this is not the politically correct answer, but I dont think I would be able to do it.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

If I love someone & due to circumstances Something happens to him toh ofcourse I wont leave him & walk out. or If I am in love with someone who is handicapped I might get married. But Just like that, I wont.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

i would be more scared whether the child i might have with this disabled person would also be challenged, as a woman giving birth to a child that would have such intense difficulties in life is more of a concern. I can imagine how hard it must be to see your child suffer like that.

marrying such a person would depend on the extent to which he's mentally challenged. if it's extreme version of autism where he talks to me like a 5 year old then probably not but if it's a minor mental disability or something like schizophrenia then i'm not sure, maybe, if it's love

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

No, I wouldn't be able to. Love is, unfortunately, not everything. I can handle a physical handicap, not a mental one. There are many things to consider.

Will this person be able to make a living?
Will he be able to handle the kids for a few days if I have to go out of town/country for a few days by myself?
Will he be able to withstand pressure when life is not going so smooth?
Can he be someone I can fall back on for moral support and courage if something happens in life that weakens me emotionally? Physically?

Re: would you marry a “mentally challenged [retarded]” person knowingly?

i saw a video of a man whose gf went into coma after an accident and now she’s in a state where she can’t walk or talk, move her body but he loves her so intensely and selflessly that he’s taking care of her more than her own mother is. He’s staying positive that some day she’ll be able to take care of herself.

I feel bad for him because he won’t ever have a normal life.

this is not the same kind of situation as mentally challenged/retarded but holy god such men  i didn’t think they existed, i’ve never come across one that cared that much for a woman

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

Physically handicapped I can manage, but not mentally handicapped.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

Who is mentally challenged is not clear from this. :p

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

That was the point.

Okay, no, I am not the type to diss my husband like that, esp on a public/open forum.....so take away from thsi comment what you will.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

Being mentally challenged encompasses a whole lot of various possibilities.

Completely retard/to being simply not versed to cope with day to day problems.

So that needs to be clarified.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

Yep. I got the point. You are such a humble person. Great. :)

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

I'm assuming that this scenario is referring to arranged marriages (Ie. you're not already in love with the person and has not invested months or years into the relationship).

No, I would not even consider it. While searching for a man to be my husband and the father of my future children, I'm looking for someone who is capable of fulfilling those 2 roles. And I would NEVER even consider marrying someone without getting to know them...so not sure how anyone can "dupe" me.

And for the record, once I'm married, IF my husband were to have an accident or disease that left him handicapped (mentally or physically), then no, I would not leave him.

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

All men(straight) do that whenever they marry anyone !

Right!

Re: would you marry a "mentally challenged [retarded]" person knowingly?

You mean someone who uses multiple colours in a post?
