Many of the guppies are currently living outside of Pakistan. Quite often we get to hear if only things were better in Pakistan we wouldn’t waste any time and move right away or one day we’ll move, but for most of us that day never comes.
Given that a nation cannot change overnight, how many of you would be willing to move to Pakistan permanently and under present conditions? Would there be a particular city and neighbourhood that you’d like to settle in? Or would you prefer to continue living outside of Pakistan?
Multiple reasons. I have lived in US but still unable to accept this life as The Life, rather a temporary effort to gain some experience, reach some milestones (accompanied with financial stones). I feel more comfortable around my parents, siblings and their kids, relatives. So far my motive is to go back to the life I left behind when I moved to US and carry it on with new members of course :D. There would be problems, I know, some friend mentioned it yesterday that while moving from one country to another one exchanges one set of problems with another set of problems… before you make a move you evaluate those set of problems to see which ones you can handle better and for which ones you are equipped better.
As for my detailed answer...I think I would want to live in Muree!!..Yes Muree..Its so surreal there...U dont even need a car to get arround...I guess its location location...My parents have a home there so that would be a perfect place as it is so close to the schools...its such a peaceful place...Once u become a local there...there is so much acceptance by the people there...If it gets lonely...a trip to mall road is all u need to see all the people that would suffice for a year..:D...and did I mention scenery..its literally to die for!!!...and the constant chai drinking....again all the walking takes care for the extra calories...
I would love to live there...I have aleady fantasized about it innumerous times...:)
well .. the title of the thread is misleading in many ways. how can someone who did not grow up there move 'back' to pakistan. I WOULD JUST BE "MOVE TO PAKISTAN"
Last time I was in pak was 1999.
Many people move to Pakistan for family reasons. Most of my family is in US, UK and Canada. There are relatives in Pakistan but really aside from a handful of people I am not close to any of them, and are just very different people. So from a family point of view I should be in North America or Europe.
Its also a factor of where I feel comfortable, and in sync with my surroundings and all. That defintely is US and UK. I did not go to London for a few years whereas I would usually go twice a year, so when i went in 2005, it had been 4 years, but it was as if I never left, yes there was changebut I could just merge in the life there and not feel out of step at all. I do not get that feeling in Pakistan even when I was spending a lot of time there, whether it was when i moved there for a couple of years in my teens, or even when I was going there to spend entire summers. I just did not feel a part of it because the lifestyles there are not something I identfy with.
To me its a place where my parets grew up, a place that has a place in my heart, but not a place I think of as home. That is why I have not been back since 1999, and now that my grandparents have passed away, I dont really know when I would go there. I may go this winter just to see some elders, but thats about it.
