Re: Would you keep a gun a home?
I agree with Nomica.
I personally prefer to fight :faris: but to be honest I was taught to use everything and anything as a weapon.
I have a passion for these sorts of things now… having had a better understanding of them than most people I always think such things carefully. Contrary to what some assume I am not a mindless brute but a being of some sense and in this wicked world I am a real expert at staying alive… so far so good.
Hoever only recently I have had to consider things very carefully.
In the UK I have to comply with all the laws and therefore Automatic weapons are out of the equation. However I keep a score of Hunting rifles all licenced a few what you might call anti material rifles… In other words weapons that are what you might use in a real war time scenario or for serious hunting. And a brace of Pistols from modern Firearms to classic revolvers and even a flintlock here and there.
I however have to keep them all in a secure gun cabinet which is in a bomb proof box basically theres no way your going to get one out in a hurry… it takes hours to find them and clean them… Due to my line of work however I am supposed to have a working knowledge of most small arms. I have a bit of a history.
Anyway without divulging too much I would advise those that are carefull to take full steps and abide by all regulations from Health and Saftey to actual maintenace and the general legislattuer of the country in which you live. Guns are definately not toys you keep by the bedside table.
My consolation is that almost all my Weapons are not operatable by a Child even a full grown man wont be able to use most of my rifles and guns as they are real brutes… but to be extra safe they are not openly available in the first place.
It took a great deal of patience from both me and my wife. She is now more knowlegdeable on weapons than most men and will definately not be showing anything to the Children. In fact I have no intetnion of passing on my skills to my children, weapons craft is usefull but only if they really need it which right now it’s a no no.
As for the idea of keeping a weapon in your home… security is a big consideration. Not only should it be almost impossible for you to get one in a hurry but doubly impossible for anyone else to get one either suppose we were out of the house one day and some idiot broke in… theres every chance he will take our TV and PC… but unless he brings High explosives and a lot of other specialist equipment therese no way he is going away with my gun Cabinet… com War Safe.
In fact my close friend who held a licence was raided by bailiffs over a parking fine (he had payed the fine but the bailifs got the notice too late)… they planned a raid into his home and stopped short of arresting him when the Police asked them politley to back off as the guy was a licensed firearms expert and ex commando for the 2nd Battalion Parachute regiment… that was one of the more comical episodes in my new Bosses life… anyway.
Yeah there sometimes is a pressing need for firearms but do be aware theres more to a gun than bullets. If you want the responsibiltiy of owning a gun be prepared for all the wiegth that comes with it… and frankly in the UK the laws are so tight the average Joe has no chance.
