and you want a child of the other gender so you have one of each and you only want two kids.
You find out that it’s of the same gender again.

I personally believe in abortion only when absolutely necessary (for ex when the mother’s mental or physical health is at risk or in cases of rape)..
What happens if the women becomes pregnant again and the baby is the ‘wrong’ gender again?? Is she going to keep having abortions till she gets what she wants?

No. If my husband and I were so set on a gender and having max 2 kids, I would simply go through IVF and pick the gender.

I usually see families with both a little boy and a little girl…I’ve had brothers so my parents got to experience how it is to have kids of both genders and my brother and his wife have both, the most adorable little girl and a boy. What if your husband is totally against IVF or such procedures where you might get to pick. Life does not seem fair if a person can’t experience raising both.

I don’t know what you mean by this. I’m saying two of each gender. If I had a boy the first time, it would be cool to have a girl the second time and vice versa. More than two kids seems like too much for some people to handle.
sidenote: i’m not pregnant nor am I in a relationship. i just wanted opinions of people here regarding this sensitive issue.

This makes no sense. A man who is ok with his wife getting an abortion b/c the baby is the “wrong gender”…what possible reason could he have to go through IVF to choose a gender? Assuming they can afford it. Clearly men like this don’t believe in leaving it up to Allah…

Definetly not. It’s up to Allah what he gives us. This to me is murder. Am so strongly against abortion.
What difference does it make if its 2 boys or 2 girls? Maybe im wrong as i have both, 2 girls and a boy. but i feel As long as the baby is healthy. See so many babies born with something wrong, or other people that cant have kids and are desperate for a baby, so all that matters is a healthy baby.

One girl and one boy sounds ideal family structure, it looks good to have both gender. According to assumption that husband is against to IVF means that husband also mature and understand what is in his *naseeb *or destiny.
These thoughts of yours are temporary. Either girl or boy, what matter most is healthy baby. I am sure rest of the members will also agree on healthy baby and that is actually an ideal family.
Stop thinking about bachy do hi achay, your are not writer of your life. Though you can select gender of your baby by all means of modern medical science but that is too much. If you start thinking like that yes I have two baby girl and this is what my creator wants me to up bring, your life would be easy.
What sid means in his comments that babies are innocent whatever gender, he would adopt. I really like his attitude.

^I think a lot of non-desis would feel the same when it comes to abortion for those reasons..
Just read about an Indian Sikh girl here in the UK who wanted to abort because she didn’t want her daughter to be discriminated against all her life, esp by family.. Erm why not TRY challenging the BS and sterotypes.. or if that’s somehow impossible because of too much pressure move away from the crazy people around you.. I wouldn’t hesitate to move if it meant my (future) daughter would have a better and secure future..

In some NHS hospitals they’ll actually refuse to disclose the gender of the baby because of it..
