lol. Speaking of abusing first internet did you hear isohunt going bust :(
Excellent thread.
Back in the CD days, I always bought genuine CDs. In fact we had a huge CD collection that we very recently disposed off.
I am no longer into too much of music and listens to very selective kind, mostly 20 years old music. I am sorry to admit that my very small song collection is not a bought one but downloaded one (for free of course).
But here is the issue. Even if I decide to go and buy Kishore Kumar CDs from an Indian shop in USA, I know it would be an illegally copied CD.
Why am I not paying 99 cents per song and buy it from iTunes? Not because I am cheap, but I think that for desi songs, that is a ridiculously expensive price, and also because I hate DRM restrictions on something that I legally own.

Very true!
For me I can see both sides. I find it easy to understand why artists would not be happy having their work ''sold'', essentially, for free via social media. But saying that to an extent modern day Music mostly thrives on publicity. Look at Gangam style, I am sure most people decided to listen to it because that's what everyone else was doing. This gave the artist massive publicity and he has now gone on to hold huge concerts thus earning big money. Now had everyone been required to pay money to listen to his song originally not many would have done it and he would not have even earned 10% of what he earns now. This applies to most artists so I find it odd too when they moan!

Why what warning!

For downloading Clash Of Titans. They claim they conneted to my pc and downloaded a chunk of copy right protected material. Since it was my first warning ..thats why only warning.
Plus don't forget free music services like Pandora. Also many artists have their own YouTube channels because though you can listen to their music for free, it's also free publicity.
And FM radio was always free music anyways :D
I use to buy CDS all the time ... then I moved to Switzerland and got a laptop and Napster was my best friend !
But these days ... I don't download music or videos coz of all the copyright laws popping up in the U.S. of A ... which means Canada is not too far behind ... so I just watch movies on-line and listen to music on YouTube.
@ DMD - that is scary ...
Re: Would you ever pay for music
^^ I know eh
thats why i am netflixia now:sunnyboy:+ Full movies are available on YT
and thanks to YT and N1 Converter site…i will never buy music again:devil:
exactly DMD - that is why I got Netflix , coz I have a feeling they might start increasing the price once the hammer comes down ...
BTW ....we can't even watch Netflix USA using hotspot anymore, they figured it out, now you have to pay for hot spot if you want to access Netflix USA.
Sorry shak, totally off topic ... .
Re: Would you ever pay for music
^^There is a way..... u can use your canadian account to watch US content ;)
For movies, especially Hollywood movies, I would never download a pirated copy anyways. I would rather spend four five dollars to rent a blue ray stream from Apple tv than to watch a bad audio video quality free download.
Btw when we can rent blue ray from red box for $1.49 and Netflix is only $8 per month, then really there is no need for U.S.people to ever watch a pirated movie.
Re: Would you ever pay for music
I dont watch a lot of movies/TV outside of my dvr but I have tons of songs on MP3 CD's from Pakistan. I remember back in the day there was a music site that was selling 3 CD's with over 2000 of Pakistani songs for $29.99. Got that and it was awesome! All the Pakistani Pop, movie and naats in one package.
what?! how? You have GOT to tell me the way … pretty please !
