Would you "die" for your country?

Re: Would you “die” for your country?

Of Course :jhanda:

Re: Would you “die” for your country?

:nono: Not for a country…

I can die for my religion ,my children,my family..

Re: Would you “die” for your country?

Good viewpoint but what if your Religion and Fammily happened to be in that country?

Would you flee/make Hijrat with your Fammily? If there was an escape route I think most people would take it and I cant blame them at all for it… In fact I would persuade most people to flee while I might personally opt for a rearguard action. :salute:

Or suppose the escape routes were all cut off and you either sit and watch as spectators to an event or are given the chance to help would you pick up a weapon and then fight or is it just not your battle so you will sit and see what happens.

War is as much a thinking game as a fighting one… I have a deep respect for those who think these matters carefully and are not merely like me, and willing to throw thier life away every time they feel there is a need for heroism. :hehe:

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

I love myself and I love my life but if such a situation did arise, I have no qualms about committing myself for a just cause. I have more reasons than I can care to list here.

Re: Would you “die” for your country?

The question is, what is my life worth to anyone? Who cares if I live or die? (except my family who obviously doesn’t want me dead)

I wasn’t born a Pakistani, I was born a muslim. If my death somehow contributed towards a noble cause for the muslim community, then yes I would like to be one of the shu’hada. And I definitely wouldn’t die for Ireland. :chai:

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

Yes, IF and only IF Muslims are under physical attack are they allowed to fight back. There are countless examples in ahadith that show how our Prophet SAW lived His everyday life as an example to Muslims and non-Muslims. We have the right to protect ourselves and our religion. He was insulted openly yet I cannot recall a single instance in which He fought back using violence when He could have used peace.

Lets not twist that into something its not. Islam does not advocate violence.

We do NOT have the right to kill Allah swt's creation just because he/she is kaafir and do not like Muslims. For example, if someone says "Islam is a barbaric religion"...do they die now according to our faith? No. You use the aqal that has been gifted to you. You show people that Islam is indeed a wonderful faith through your actions and words.

When you reach for violence, you may think you're doing the right thing but you've actually taken away more opportunities for Muslims all over the world to do good.

Re: Would you “die” for your country?

^ Superb post Reha. :lajawab:

Violence is rarely the anwser though at times it is a sound solution to a problem in the short term Violence due to it’s very nature is counter productive in the long run.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

Probably not anymore, given the state this country is in. Looking at examples of people who have died, in their own estimation, for Pakistan [Salman Taseer, Shahbaz Bhatti] and the relatively small impact thats had I dont think thats taking your life seriously enough.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

No doubt about it. :)

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

I can die for a cause, not for just the country.

I do not believe that all our soldiers who are getting killed in the name of defending our country in the NW regions are dying for a right cause. Similarly all the US teens who are getting killed in Iraq and Afghanistan are dying for no cause whatsoever.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

I would disagree with you .

How can you generalize that by saying those youths getting killed in Iraq or Afghanistan are for no cause? They have a adifferent perspective.Do not they have?

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

American teens getting killed by a road side bomb are dying for a cause!

and what is that cause?

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

They are there because their Army has a cause.Since they are a part of that Armed Force they have a valid reason and a cause to be there.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

Well from some I have talked to the Cause is quite simply thier out to prove America is the best and as they put it "Wont take no **** from nobody"... but thats just rhetoric mostly.

Majority of them were totally unsure why they were there... becuase not many were prepared for the Army life few of them thought about the long term affects of an Occupation and most are relieved to be home after six month tours.

Initially a lot of them thought they were out to Protect America but as time progressed they found themselves feeling like an occupying force that was as bad as the Regime they replaced... or in the case of Afghanistan it's just become a Military stalemate becuase for every Tactical Coalition victory theres a Strategic Taliban one that offsets all the good results.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

Faris Bhai ... this Vietnam syndrome has always been there.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

there is a diff between a cause and a duty. They are there because its their duty or they will be court martialed if they refuse.

not a cause good enuff to get killed for :D

I agree with your post.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

Aye but sadly most of the young Men and Women who were sent to this War did not read up thier History, the American Politicians are great at making thier youngsters feel all patriotic and heroic but they dont tell them the gory details and the poor souls have to learn the hard way.

Sadly it is a fact more American service personel go on to commit suicide in America than actually die on the battlefield and reasons vary from Battle stress, mental trauma and even several cases of abuse within the Army and even by Civilians towards ex Personel.

Its a real shame and as a Martial person I really feel sorry for the veterans sometimes who come home and get kicked in the teeth. :(

Whats worse is the Governments themselves do very little to help the situation... its a real shame.

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

What I am saying is you can not generalize it.There may be thousands of soldiers and other officers who saw a cause in that.

Re: Would you “die” for your country?

Yes :hinna:

I would fight to defend my family/religion…
but if I was required to do it for country voluntarily :nono:

Re: Would you "die" for your country?

^ I respect your views. In fact your very brave with such a decision. :)

You sound like a great Parent.... I pray that Allah never brings any of us in harms way. Ameen.
